Mullins and Jevons up front together... and we score some goals... why has it taken soooooo long to give it a try this season??

5-0

Scott Brown, shot took a deflection. Five goals and Stockport "aren't as bad as the score suggests"

As I wrote back in August...

Keith wrote:We've not played well in the league yet but we've also not played for a win yet either. Hopefully we will go to Oxford on Saturday with the mentality & formation that suggests we are better than them and we're going to score a hat-full rather than five at the back and hope we snatch one.

Not to worry, it'll soon be November and then we can start playing.

sounds like a great game (well, winning 5-0 it was hardly going to be anything else!) Jevons has hit the bar twice and now McCready has just cleared off the line!

Great result :D

Well done us lot :!:

sammy has read on here, realised it was the system and done what we said

seriously though, stockport look very doomed, the conditions were appalling but the team were fantastic, their fans were funny and turned out in droves, 460 away is very good, attendance 2005 in total :!:

quid a kid is the answer if we want more home support :!:

Jevons and Mullin were immence, Mullin for me was man of the match, deserved a goal. He was acctually beating players to the ball! Brilliant night...

Now sammy, are you telling me the players did not enjoy that 4-4-2 system? Of course they did you stubborn git.

Jevons + Mullin = Goals. Simples.

Great performance and will give the team some real belief going into the FA Cup tie on Saturday. No surprise we have won three games out of four with Bentley in the team and Jevons surely must start too on Saturday. Excellent attacking performance and looked full of confidence as soon as we got our noses in front.

Looked a lot less than 2000 in tonight but not a bad crowd all things considered. Plenty would have bottled it when it started chucking it down half an hour before kick-off. It was a monsoon!

jim bentley was excellent, we need a commanding presence at the back and he is that, thougt the pitch held up excellently, first 10 rows of the main stand are great if you are a duck

We were much better tonight, Jevons and Mullin both played really well and Duffy tortured them. I thought our attacking play was much better and not only because it was 4-4-2 but because the midfield attacked as well. Hunter was overlapping and Wilson was making some good runs too.

Stockport were there for the taking but they did play some good stuff themselves. However, we could have easily won by 10-0 with Jevons hitting the bar twice, a goal-line clearence from them and several other chances. Jevo fully deserved his hattrick.

Only disappointing thing for me was the atmosphere today but I reckon the attendence was about 1000 lower than it would have been had it been a clear night. The rain came at the wrong time and I think a lot of people won't have bothered leaving the door.
