I'd just like to say first of all that there are going to be a lot of changes to the bar over the next couple of weeks. Certain events and deals on specific nights are imminent so please just bear with us!
I'll start by answering a few questions already asked...
Whilst the Commercial Department are doing an excellent job in attracting new business to the Wright and Lord suite, I wonder if the appointment (if not already in place ) of a focussed Entertainment Manager with specific experience of providing differing entertainment packages to cater for a variety of age groups would be worth considering?
There isn't an Entertainment Manager as such and i don't think this would benefit any section of the Arena in anyway, if anything it would just be an extra salary for the club to pay. There is an Events/Functions Manager and as Ockers has said, she is called Michelle. The catering side is run by Michael O'brien although the actual Bar & Grill is predominantly run by Toby Greenword (Bar Manager). They all do a terrific job under a lot of pressure and have regular meetings about what to do with the bar. They also take in to account your views as obviously this affects their jobs.
the same said manager should be responsible for the match day management of the food outlets in all the stands and if this is already in place then they should be sacked I'm not being cruel or too negative but the way these outlets is currently run is not only causing the club to lose revenue but also ruin the day for alot of fans.
As above the Catering Manage is Michael O'brien but there is a lady who runs the catering on the concourses, some fans from Christie Park will know her from working the bar at JB's - Jayne. You have to understand that because of the design of the stadium the half-time refreshments have to be made and collected from the kitchen which is situated in the Peter McGuigan Stand so this adds pressure to the chefs as they can't send out too many or too little pies! The pies when they arrive at the concourses are stored in a heated unit which can't hold that many. Although the attendance of a game can be roughly estimated it's almost impossible to guess how many will eat pies. On top of all that, i know for certain the focus over the next couple of weeks is being shifted to delivering a higher standard to everyone who eats/drinks at the concourses. The club don't want you to feel that you have been forgotten, in fact it's the complete opposite, there is hardly a day goes by that the management don't think about what the fans want from their match day experience.
staff behind the bar in the Globe Bar, with the exception of the older small white-haired lady and one other, are just hopelessly inexperienced. Getting a pint after a game is becoming an ordeal rather than a post-match pleasure and not just because of the queues.
That lady is Lynn and she won't be impressed by the white hair comment The "other one" is probably Gail, one of the bar supervisors. The thing with pre and post match drinks in the Bar & Grill is that just before the game most of the staff get shifted upstairs to set up and prepare for the rush there.
Toby also deserves a mention, who is normally upstairs, and is one of the only ones who recognises which customer is next in the queue - in my book the 2nd thing they should learn when behind a bar.
Yeah Toby works very hard, not just on match days but during the week preparing for functions and match days behind the scenes. The thing about the staff upstairs serving people in order is that there is a rush both at half-time and full-time as obviously everyone goes in at the same time. A member of staff might be pulling a pint and the next time they look up there can be anything between 10 and 40 people at the bar. Most of (if not all) the staff who work in the Wright & Lord suite are very experienced.
Totally agree and this souless look spreads even into the main reception area. Surely some large photographs of our Wembley success and other footballing scenes aren't too much to expect.
There are going to be some big changes to the look of the bar so watch this space!
Topless barmaids anyone?
have you been in the bar?
Anyway, any questions, just ask
