Sammy's post match comments on Radio Lancashire

Some players can't handle away games that involve long distance trips.
No desire to go for it after scoring
4 or 5 totally out of the game
Wingers not in it
Passing was bad
2 steps forward 3 steps back
Didn't perform in any way what so ever
Totally cheesed off
Learnt a lot about his players
Simply not good enough
Heroes get mentioned but Legends never die.

Strange, I've spoken to a couple of people at the game and they recon we were good enough for a draw.Sounded a close game unless that is just Quinny ;). But did sound like after we scored we didn't push on enough for the draw

Funny that it sounds like we've been watching a different game . Not much on the left agreed but Duffy on the right paggered them in the first half, I always as he loses steam later on and sure enough was subbed. Passing was good in our half and Baz was distributing well until we went behind. Problem is the outlet WE HAV'NT GOT ONE! Other than hoofing it up to pm who, when he wins it, knocks it down to our number 87 who isn't there!!!

sorry but i interviewed sammy
and i disagree imho
hes been way too harsh
i know hes the manager and hes entitled to say what he did
but hand on heart ive seen us play far worse ive seen us throw away defeats and seen less of a reaction which suggests it might be more deep rooted
the aldershot press to a man around me wouldnt have grumbled had we got a draw
one bad error for the opening goal
the second was a great strike and scott made a great impact when he came on and scored a screamer
jimbo hits bar four time sin three games
mullin again has a header savedat th enearf post brilliantly
bit more luck today no schoolboy error and we could have got all three
so im sorry ive seen a different game

5 players off??

i could name them but id only say that perhaps jevons brown should start on saturday

Chill Sean.I hav'nt heard the interview but now get the gist. After the game the players and Lills came over with applause. Ok there were only 60 of us but individually many spend their hard earned dosh and take many hours of theitime to see a game . Win or lose we, as fans and players, expect a reciprocal reaction. Sammy disappeared today. Was he rushing off to the Gala Draw by any chance? Not many dignatories at the game today unlike last week when the Globe was over run .

As has been suggested you would normally expect the manager to defend his players come what may. Therefore it's strange that in this case he doesn't.

Didn't go but it sounds like it was a close game so maybe Sammy was being a bit harsh with his comments.

Quinny said it was Jimbo's man who was unmarked and scored

it was either jim or stew for spencer at the corner
so whether he meant parrish ?
like i said earlier it was a big diss on the team when some players actually put in a good shift

Roy Hodgson certainly stuck up for his teams generally poor performance with the usual one man upfront. Gone are the golden days when they would steamroller the opposition with attacking play. Oh how he could do with a perm from any of the following;

Heighway, Keegan, Toshack, Aldridge, Fowler, Barnes, Dalgleish, Rush or Souness.

I've said it before, but Mr McIlroy trains the team, picks the team, determines the tactics, and is responsible for motivating the team. Particularly given how close the game appears to have been, I find his attitude appalling. Time he stood up and took responsibility for his part in the performance, as all season its been the players' fault, never his.

Wouln't go that far yes some of the pre and post match comments are sometimes a little harsh but saying he has an 'appalling' attitude is a bit uncalled for. He does a very good job lets be honest Morecambe are a small club living a dream and on paper whilst we may have the best squad in our history we are still small fish (or should that be shrimps!) in this league. So it just shows what a great job Sammy is doing that we finished 4TH last season.

Sammy wears his heart on his sleeve and it obviously hurts him when we don't play up to the standard he expects. I would rather have a manager like that than one who tries to find excuses such as refereeing decisions etc as the reason for a defeat.
We lost 2-1 to what is a fairly poor team so he is probably right that some of the players didn't turn up.
Hopefully we can take out revenge on Stevenage and Westley.
