Calvin Zola will not be leaving Crewe on loan before the weekend having held talks with League Two rivals Shrewsbury on Friday.
The striker, who has fallen out of favour with the Alex this season, spoke with Shrews boss Graham Turner but no agreement has been reached between the two parties and Zola returns to Gresty Road for the time being at least.
He is, however, still available on loan to Shrews and other interested parties, with Burton among several clubs also firmly interested in acquiring his services.
Zola will now be available for Crewe's League Two clash against Torquay on Saturday.
