...and on tonights performance there are few if any players at the moment capable of holding their own in the Football League. Plenty of potential but lacking experience.

Jimbo looked very short of match fitness and Rundle only played the first 45. New signing Scott Brown put himself about but lacked support. Young Hendrie showed some nice touches but never really got into a goal scoring position. Walker in goal was responsible for their first after some poor distribution.

Understand he signed yesterday. Released by Cheltenham. Before that released by Port Vale. Before that at Bristol City where he was prosecuted for violent conduct following an incident in a nightclub. A midfielder who is 5 foot 9. 40 appearances in 4 and a half years (admittedly missed a season after a broken leg) so a squad member.

Hope Sammy has seen something special in him but to me it's a baffling signing.

Personally can't see the point in signing another player who at best will only be a squad player. Surely it would have been better to have signed an additional striker (OK probably on more money but better value) who would have put even more presure on those already at the club. Yet another baffling signing as Posh suggests.

I thought Scott Brown was our best player against Tranmere by a country mile. Probably the best player on either side.
He never stopped running all night and was hustling the Tranmere players to get the ball off them and was constructive with it when he got it off them.

You have to give every player a chance if he does not come up with the goods then fair enough but at least give him time to show what he can do.

I WAS at the Reserves game v Tranmere hence my comment about Scott based on what I saw and he HAS signed for the club hence again my reason for questioning the need to sign 'another squad player'.....

Maybe Sammy has him in mind for a different position? Did he look capable of playing at right back for instance?

Tranmere fielded 8 squad players against our 4 not including Brown and stokes. Not sure if Jimbo came off either because he was knackered or to give himself touchline experience. The youngsters had a difficult time in defence due to pace (but didnt disgrace themselves ). Jim struggled to keep pace back tracking from half way line due to a poor free kick from Walker, which resulted in 1st goal, second goal was well worked, 3rd goal we got caught napping inside 1st min 2nd half. We did have a few reasonable chances from the youngsters but by then tranmere had slowed the pace a bit which made it look like we upped the pace

IMHO I dont think he is coming as a squad player.

Maybe Sammy has him marked down as playing in Paul Scott's current position with Paul Scott moving into the back 4.
