TODAYS ATTENDANCE!!

Postby mrpotatohead » Sat Aug 28, 2010 5:44 pm

Given that money is tight, and that we played burnley on tuesday to a bumper crowd, all in all i thought 2300 was a decent effort today, at least 2100 locals, but i have to say, I have noticed a lot of the former paddock fans were missing today, or have relocated ?, I am very happy with the new stand, how do people feel about the other areas :?: :?:

ANIMAL FARM

Postby mrpotatohead » Sat Aug 28, 2010 10:33 pm

2 LEGS GOOD, 4 LEGS BAD.

THE GLOBE, seems better for the pigs, but not the rest of the animals, even animals from other farms are a bit jacked off, our animals from the paddock are staying away :?:

I hope the club advertise at the Universities come fresher week, I'm sure many students miss watching regular live football when away at Uni, and given a little encouragement could really boost attendances (and the bar profits!) during term times if we can persuade them to adopt Morecambe as their second team for 3 years.

Anyone who wonders why most of the stadium budget was spent on the main stand, Just look at todays crowd for your answer.
If we want our club to compete at the highest leval, we need money but that is not going to come from the average fan like myself.

Just assuming that our crowds would never go up regardless of how the club treats its regular fans is very defeatist IMO. No doubt the club has now got corporate facilities to tempt local business folk down and spend a load of money but they shouldn't ignore the regular fans.

Hopefully the club will iron out all the problems mentioned on here since the ground opened and crowds will stay well up on our FL average of just over 2000.

2300+ today was a good turnout bearing in mind our current form and being the second home game in a week. The team needs to start winning matches to make sure we hang on to these extra few hundred fans!

But what about when the corporate suites stand empty and the fans who have been there through wins and losses have finally given up attending I for one would like to see some of the Christie PR being shown at the Globe!

My point is that we had a budgiet on the stadium.
We are now making money that down the line could be used on improving the average fans match day experience.

Sat 17 15:00 H Gillingham FL2 L 0-1 2,027

Sat 28 15:00 H Gillingham FL2 D 1-1 2,325

so 298 more fans at GA than CP, not all of them were Gills

It was a fair turn out considering we played mid-week & people are still on holiday. Let's face it, the two league cup games bought the "big-game-hunters" out, but 2300+ was still good considering Gills bought about 250-300. I thought they had a good turn out considering the distance - about 600 miles I think.

Some of the corporate boxes have now been sold for the next few seasons and from the feedback from those who have used them would indicate that there will be a waiting list should one come empty.

Also the Wright & Lord suite is a great facility for both Matchdays and to host non-match day functions. This I am sure will increase revenue for the club and bring in a greater number of supporters who prefer a little bit more comfort before, during & after the match.

The club do listen and have made improvements in the short time they have been at the Globe, Peas & Gravy come to mind, different queues for food/alcohol etc.

And whilst i'm beating the positive drum, get yourselves down to the Globe Arena Bar on non match days - foods good, beers good and the staff are great. Great place to watch the footie or just pop down with a few mates for a beer or three :)

Maybe the club will add more boxes and have them right along the back of the main stand - which would solve the problem of restricted views. If the boxes all get used, great - more money. If not then they're only taking up space that would be occupied by useless seats.

Maybe something the club will consider a year or so down the line, providing the interest is there.

Interesting idea, the club will already have looked into. I believe there could be problems stopping them from doing so.

i think it was said, that so much of the ground as to have seating, so removing seating to make room for sponsors boxes could prevent it being possible

unless they made north stand all seating

That is true. I'm not sure about the North side being made all seating but I wonder if we built a seated stand, would we get grants to do so? Plus you'd have the cash injection from selling the extra boxes so I imagine it wouldn't cost the earth to do all this.

Hereford are to recieve £750.000 in grants for their new stand behind the goal.
Dagenham also recieved the same amount for their new stand.

thats my thinking aswell it would be double in revenue from another 5 or 6 sponsors boxes being built up there

and plus a grant for alternative seating would be a bonus, if not you could easly pull the money back anyway

I'd have thought the North Stand (or North wall as some folk call it) could be the ideal area for a stand if grants were available - then stuff some more corporate boxes in there.

The means the club wouldn't lose any seats from the PMcG stand.

thing with that is it stops all the money men & directors from socialising in one area and would be more expensive building more bars and the more staff to work them

the new main stand has just over the amount of seats we need for football league requirements, so extra boxes are not an option, I am going to be positive now, our arena fully fits the bill for our team and fans, it is reasonable on matchday paying in, you can lord it up, or slum it, depending on your budget, it must be a nicer place to work for players and staff, so once the dust settles and the price of hot dogs comes down a bit, bobs yer unkle :!: :!:

it's a lot of money in revenue with them sponsors boxes if you added them to what we've already got

apparently there £12.000 a season and then all the money what them money men spend on match day on beer and food

a extra 6 sponsors boxes would be at least 6 x £12.000 = £72.000 with what there already getting off the other boxes now = ££.££££?

In time the main stand could add a minimum further 6 exec boxes doing away with the areas that are causing such a visibility problem AND a new terraced stand to replace the Berlin Wall although the positioning of the Community Block may cause a visibility problem at the right hand side as you look at it from the main stand.

Wishful thinking.... :?: :?: :?:

having inspected and stood right up to the community block and being rather vocal about it this summer, it's not all that bad a problem

now if you had a run of steps and then the seating with one tier of seating next to the community block you would only miss that one corner flag by about 8ft

it would only restrict viewing for a few dozen seats at most

but well! worth it to allow a lot of extra revenue in added sponsors boxes
