My opinion of today's game....if anybody is interested.

I thought we started far too defensive, although we seemed too struggle to handled there attack and could have been 3 down by half time. Second half moss off and mullin on team played much better. I think the team should play 2 up front when at home...

thought today was a game where experience could have mattered, stu drummond, alongside stanners, jimbo would have stood up to bossy mr unpronouncable, thank god for baz!!

If players are a bit tired from tuesday, use the squad, we finished 4th last year :?:

442, with mullers and whoever out of our other forwards!

This thread of course did not need starting, it could have gone on the post match thread.

Wasn't at the game but feel we perhaps lack leaders in this new-luck team. Agree that the presence of Drummy or Bentley could have been what we are lacking. Is Roche really a natural captain or just a way of keeping one of our best players at the club. (I don't really have an answer to this one!)

Also one up front blatantly isn't working; so I would like Sammy to be a bit braver and try two up next week at Oxford. One striker could always help out with defensive duties if we are under the cosh.

Agreed. Captains should always be the symbolic leaders of the team. Barry was outstanding today and led from the back but i've never been a fan of Goalkeepers being captains. Goalkeepers can only be leaders when the ball is at the one end of the pitch, and if they're being called upon to be leaders too frequently then there is a serious problem with the team. Personally i've always felt that the leaders need to be in the middle of the park and in the thick of everything. This is what Morecambe lacked today, maybe someone to go and give a word of encouragement to Moss and Shuker or someone to take charge of the game either by getting the ball to his feet and making a difference or making a crunching tackle. At the moment there are not to many people in the team who are taking up this role (other than Barry of course!). Hopefully, as the season progresses someone else will also put his hand up.

Barry was a total lifesaver today, we are very lucky to have not lost 4 1, drummers and jimbo would have been effective today, and i see no natural leaders elsewere in the squad, greame alexander is captain at burnley and is 40 next year, if you have experience in your team , use it, garry hunter, where is he at the moment :?:

I think the captains role is greatly over rated.
Collectively we need 11 captains out there who take responsibility for themselves and their mates.
I thank you 8-)
