Sorry to be a NN, but this is stupid, how many people can get time off on a Thursday? Also some of the local schools are back by then. Think the club are missing the boat with this :(

Could be to do with the fact that Thursday is a training day and it fits in with the players

I hope they don't just train on a Thursday

What I meant was, that Thursday is one of the training days, I always thought Wednesday was normally a day off for them, but I could be wrong.Think Monday is a training day as well.

Yes they are training before they go to Oxford. They obviously can't do it on a match day and I can't see people being available on a Sunday. I think having had to cancel the original open weekend the Club have made up by having a signing and training session.
As you say Paul for many it will be a day of work.

Good chance to have a good luck around will defo be going!
As for it being a Thursday would think it is just because it ties in with when the players would normally train.

What a shame for my eleven year old. First day at secondary school on Thursday, as it will be for a few more,he would love to have met Barry, as he is also a goalkeeper too. :(

Like a few have obviously mentioned (as did some around us in the West Stand today when it was announced over the PA), why on earth have the club waited until all the schools are back to hold this event ??!!

Some disappointed faces of young ones around me so there were...

A big PR error by the club, picking a day when a lot of youngsters are at school and people are at work, would have been better waiting till the October half term break.

My 11 yr old is gutted, and wants to miss his 1st day at Ripley!!
The cynic in me would suggest that they don't actually want to be inundated with lots of pesky kids!! (Or folk who work, or folk who are away!)
Hope the rest of you enjoy it, and that the schools do have 100% attendance rates Thursday!!

Can't normally fault our boards decision making but this one seems ill thought out - why have an 'open day' when most of those meant to benefit can't attend?

Surely there must be a better date that would allow the majority to see the areas of the ground they wouldn't normally see and let the kids meet the players - or surely they could have done it in the evening to make it more a lillte more accesable?

I know this won't be an easy thing to arrange but perhaps whoever agreed this needs to look at what the objective was and then think again as to whether this arrangement will achieve it? - I think not and see this as a major PR failure unless you are unemployed or on holiday

This is something we have never been good at. The great 5 a side tourney was arranged on the same day as the Lune & District end of season tournament meaning loads parents were tied to college till at least 1pm, plus there was an event on the prom as well. Think someone needs to sit down and think these things through becoming setting in stone

In view of the numbers who are unable to attend especially our younger fans (the life blood of the clubs future), wouldn't it seem logical that the club organise another open day but this time on a Sunday. OK the manager and the players will not be there, but at least it gives all those who wish to see all areas of the ground the opportunity.
