Lee Hendrie

Postby Joel Ninety » Sat Aug 28, 2010 11:52 am

Apparently Lee Hendrie was on Soccer AM today pretty much begging for a club to sign him.

Could his brother have a word to get him to sign for us? Does anyone think he'd be worth a 1 year contract?

Sounds like he's dead keen to get a club and prove himself so maybe willing to take a big drop in pay should no Champ/Prem clubs be interested. I'd be happy to see him play for us should the opportunity or need arise....

Midfield attacking type, once played for Villa, I think.

I've corrected your quote!

So how did that work out then?

Unfortunately I think Lee Hendrie is pricing himself out of a move to any League 1 or 2 club, surely this the only explanation for a player of international (once!) quality player to be without a club, especially as he has been playing at Championship and League 1 level since leaving Villa 4 years ago. I don't think strengthening the midfield is necessary with the strength in depth currently available in the squad, although saying that I can't really see any area of the pitch where we're desperate for a new signing, which maybe explains why the Transfer Speculation thread has been inactive for a while now. Obviously many fans are content with the squad, if not the formation!

....and yet the manager has said on numerous occassions that he wants a couple more players as 'back up'. Sorry to disagree Sammy but I'd rather we spent whatever money is available on a top striker who isn't afraid to have a pop on goal. Stats I read from yesterday suggested that we had only ONE shot on target ALL game. Not nearly good enough. Maybe a bit of shooting practice on the training ground and the confidence within the players to have a go wouldn't go amiss.

PJ just isn't the type to do it all himself. A marked improvement in his performance when Mullers came on.

That is similar to my thinking, pushing Parrish or Scott to RB, then having Haining/Scott/Parrish CB alongside McCready, with Moss as sub.

I'd give Gaz a run out on Tuesday at Right full back. Always gives 100% and at least worth a try. Don't want to see Scott move from his central defensive mid field role. The central defensive combination as it is at the moment is OK. Parrish has been outstanding and his partner is more than an able substitute for Arts and has far superior distribution qualities.

in the next transfer window i would be looking to sign a striker who can play the lone striker role in order not to break up Scot Stanley Fleming and two wingers system especialy away from home

who can tick all these boxes

Mr. Potato, whilst your active campaign to get Jim Bentley back into the side is admirable, why would we want to break up what appears to be the beginnings of a successful central defensive partnership up to accommodate him? He's been a fantastic servant for us and still has a large part to play, hopefully for a long time, but I don't see that part as being an active one in the first team starting line up. To my mind, we leave Parrish and McCready where they are and find a direct replacement for Moss. I like CCs idea re: Hunter. He played at right back when he came on as a sub at Carlisle last season and performed pretty well...
