Globe Arena bar

Globe Arena bar

Postby shrimper » Thu Aug 26, 2010 8:38 am

Went last night with a few mates for the Spurs game. Watched one of my teams while putting a bit of money into the other.

Two screens on - one for our game, the other for those who wanted to watch Accy v Newcastle.

Special offer burger or hotdog and a beer for £4. Good night was had by all.

Support the bar on non-match days!

Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Not that many - which is why I'm posting on here.

The club will have 'bar publicity' on its 'to do' list I'm sure - and it'll get busier midweek when the pitches start being hired out.

But meanwhile it helps if as many of us as possible consider it as a new venue for a pub night out and do our bit to put the word around.

I wasn't aware it did food. Is this a usual thing or were the burgers a one off?

I think the intention is and always was to provide food and it's something they're introducing. It was just burgers or hot dogs last night but if more people go there and more people want food they'll start putting more on I'm sure.

I took the lads from work and a supplier there on Tuesday lunchtime and had a meal and a beer, food was fantastic and it was cheaper than a lot of other places locally!! they did it at short notice as well.

People without tickets get to watch the match for free in the bar, on telly, with 2 for one drinks

I kid you not :!: :!:

Just a suggestion but maybe there needs to be some signage for both the bar and the shop.

Would certainly enhance the respective exterior appearances.

Not everybody in the area will be aware that the bar is open during the day as well as night time.

Also there needs to be a sign board showing 'Next match' details at the entrance to Christie Way.

the club shop definitely needs a big sign to hype it up a bit. Maybe "Shrimps Superstore"

are we getting a sign in Asda , was in on Saturday and there wasnt a fixture board for us.

Both shop and bar need some signage. We are going to spend money in both, but still don't know where the bar is :(

rotherham game 2 for 1 in all bars but the wright and lord suite got told by barmaid that you pay a bit more to come in here so you can afford to pay the full price for the beer  thought that was a bit naughty BUT on a plus side having been in there for all home games so far wouldnt want to be anywhere else as the atmosphere before and after the game is second to none . all the people from the corpoate boxes come down a few players come in and first class facilities . well worth that extra couple of quid :P

Whats the point putting signage up till the bar has a name.Otherwise just wasting money.I think the powers that be will have this in hand.

Just to echo what Christies Child posted, we definitely need some signage up. Firstly directing people to where the bar actually is, and secondly advising of its availability during the week and particularly on non match days.

The club shop too, as excellent as it is, without doubt needs something at least visible from the Main Road alerting people of its existence and what it is.

And, of course, surely some sort of "Next Match at The Globe Arena" sign is a MUST ????

All in good time though, I'm sure these are being addressed.

What would be good for the bar is if they astro turf is used for a 5a side league, with the bar there for afterwards i'm sure a lot of teams would enter.
Get over it ;)

We do need a sign but also it needs a proper name maybe name it after a club legend or something like at Christie.

Rather than post suggestions on here, the Club are holding a competition. Entry forms are in the bar available any day EXCEPT matchdays. You can also receive 50p off your first drink when entering. Closing date 30th September. Over 18's only. One entry per person.

For me it would be JB's

Ok it's from the days at CP but it's well known and keeps the link with the old place going.
