Space Behind Bay Radio Stand

Space Behind Bay Radio Stand

I work with a Rotherham fan who went to the game on Saturday and his feelings of the away terracing were mixed to say the least. He said the view was great but the area behind the stand was so narrow that when he held out his arms he could touch the rear of the stand and the outside wall, he also said that due to lack of signs nobody knew where the toilets were or where to queue for food/drinks. When he did find the food outlet he said that it was so congested that he did not wait and went back onto the terracing. He suggested that to improve matters, large, clear signs need to be used and that away fans need to be made aware that the areas under the stand are to be used once drink/food has been purchased (he explained that there were 2 or 3 areas under the stand where fans can gather, but due to lack of signs, nobody was using them, people were just standing around in the walk-way. I've asked him to phone the club and mention the above in the hope that these small (but important) improvements can be made before the Burnley game.

It's bad enough in the home-end with the toilets being either side of the food outlet, I dread to think how 1000 Burnley fans will cope in the away end.

Just a thought but could the club not arange to have a couple of mobile catering units outside the ground on match days selling food and drink before and after the game. As for the extra signs well that should be pretty simple to sort out.

The whole idea of building the stands with catering was to stop using outside caterers and instead make money selling our own stuff. If it is not practical to build a second outlet then the club needs to ensure that they run the original as efficiently as possible. More staff, better training, planning ahead (such as pre-pulling pints and cooking food!) and some rails to mark off the queues. Having a seperate queue for beer and food is also a good idea.

When I looked behind the MBW stand yesterday there were signs for 2 seperate queues

1. food and soft drinks

2. alcohol
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think
