Five bike racks...

Five bike racks...

Postby Nerso (CTFC) » Fri Aug 06, 2010 4:48 pm

at the new GLOBE stadium  I consider that a disgrace and again we are seeing stadiums (like every thing else in modern society) just catering for the motorcar. Five bike racks !!!!

Please give me an address to complain.

Thank you.

Looks quite good to me. Shelter and decent security hoop to lock your bike to.

10 bikes in each of those easy, means 50 bike places, thats 50 more than at Christie and I rarely saw many bikes locked up against the railings!

One poxy shelter (with five bike racks) at your new stadium. I need to complain before they officially open the stadium to the public.

Nerso's back, can't be much chance of their games being called off then?

Dont feed the troll!

Nerso has a history of coming on here just to poke a stick at us.

The first time was that we had to call a game off and we were 'amatuer' and 'Non league'. We have had none called off since and Cheltenham have had at least two called off since.

We have a brand new stadium. They dont.

Nerso is choosing to ignore that the picture is one of many bike racks around The Globe and is probably more than Cheltenham cater for. In essence he is ignorantly complaining about a a perceived lack of facility that he will never use.

As I said earlier. Pillock 8-)

If Nerso is planning on cycling up for Cheltenham's game at the Globe this season I'm sure he could reserve a place to lock his bike. Maybe the obsession with cycling facilities is borne from the fact that The Abbey Business Stadium has no car park.

Yes it does...one of the largest in the league.

I'm not criticising Morecambe FC but the planners, I want their address to complain.

There was actually a bike rack at Christie at the back of the North Stand near the tardis. Myself and Bare Bum were known to have used it.

One of the joys of the area is that I can cycle 6 miles to the Arena through built up areas, over a river and two railway lines and never have to cross a single road.

Obviously having never been to The Abbey Business Stadium it is difficult to argue the car park's existence, I'm only going off what it says on your own website: -

Car Parking
Unfortunately there is no car parking available to the general public at The Abbey Business Stadium on match days. Street parking in the immediate vicinity is also restricted.

And just because there are "only" 50 places to lock up bikes under a shelter, I'm sure nobody will be turned away from the stadium if more than 50 people turn up on their bikes, could always lock them to something else. You'll be happy to know that the new stadium is close to a cycle path running from Lancaster right up to Morecambe bay practically.

There are actually 70 covered cycle spaces in the approved plans, more than I thought.

Will that be enough for you?

I'll have you know bike racks are incredibly important. If they're not done to everyone's exacting standards then it's a tinpot small club mentality and we must sack the board/Globe/management/anyone else we can think of.

Fortunately the bike racks are stylish and plentiful, so everyone involved in the new stadium is safe.... for now!
