I've already stuck my neck on the line with this, but I'm going to stick with my gut (what I perceive to be our best team if they gel and stay injury-free):

------------------Roche------------------

McCready----Scott-----Haining------Wilson

Shuker------Fleming----Stanley------Rundle

------------Hendrie-----Jevons------------

BENCH: Walker, Bentley, Parrish, Drummond, Hunter, Duffy, Mullin

RES: Moss, Wainwright, Spencer

Come on, shoot me down! Who's first?

Wouldn't you say we need someone to play Jevons off? I think he is most effective when doing so... but otherwise i would agree..

Bring Hendrie on later on in the game to have a go at them when they are tierd; same with Spencer.. :D

Not a bad shout at all (Matty the Shrimps team). I have a feeling Duffy with another season under his belt should play a bigger role in the team though, so could see him in instead of Rundel. Fleming (along with Hendrie) is arguably our most exciting signing but for continuity keeping Stanley and Drummond in for the 1st couple of games would be wise IMO.

On paper this years team looks stronger than last years side when you look at the players who have come in, compared to those that have left. Apart from Artell, who have we lost that would be considered first 11 this year?

am a big kid when it comes to these cant resist :P

if i was manger, i would avoid making to many changes at once from the team who finished 4th last season(team spirit & gelling)

Roche
Parrish Scot Haining(C) Wilson
Stanley Drummond
Shuker Jevons Rundle
Mullin

subs Bentley, Duffy, Hendrie, Spencer, Fleming, McCready, Wilson

PS i like defenders to be captains and think it could be the making of Haining!

To me, i feel Mullin and Stanley are a must, all the rest are definetly interchangeable.

Mullin because he can play off Hendrie and Jevons, its just common sence 8-)

Stanley because i feel he is an absolute beast when it comes to set pieces and helping have that little bit of extra energy right at the moment we need it..

But Jevons needs someone like Mullin that will feed him, that or a creative midfielder and we haven't got one :/.

Hendrie would be far more effective as Jevons tiers towards the end of a game and we could unleash the young hungry beast ;)

Roche
Parish McCreadie Bentley Wilson

Duffy Drummond Fleming Rundle

Jevons Mullin

In my view you can't play two small wingers in a 4-4-2. It leaves you open right down the middle and Stanners isn't the best tackler. Away at Wycombe I'd happily see:

Roche
Parrish - Haining - Scott - Wilson
Fleming - Drummond - Stanley
Shuker - Jevons - Rundle

4-5-1 moving to a 4-3-3

Roche

Parrish Scott McReady Wilson

Shuker Stanley Fleming Rundle

Jevons Mullin

subs Walker Haining Spencer Hendrie Duffy Drummond Wainwright

definitely the strongest ever Morecambe F C squad. whichever team you pick there is stil a strong bench full of players who can come on and change a game. Anyone in the team knows they have to really cut the mustard to keep their place.

i am a fan of that system but the thing is Jevons cant play lone striker it's just not his style. at least Mullin you can hoof a long ball up to him when your under pressure and he will do not a bad job holding the ball untill his team mates push up in support

Mullin Jevons

I'd go for that for the Coventry game. Having two wingers might leave us lacking in the middle but it's a nothing-to-lose game. Against Wycombe, I'd be a bit more sensible and bring in Hunter for one of the wingers. Tough to call though!

IMO he has to start Stanley. When you look back at the Dagenham game, he stands out from everyone, closing down the opposition all the time, and set peices are always dangerous when he takes them.

Thank god your now allowed 7 on the bench, because otherwise we would have alot of very good players not even making the squad, and we still will! Im not too sure he will start Shuker, presuming he signs, considering hes had no match practice with us and Duffy has began to show what he can do.

I'd go with...

------------- Roche --------------

Parrish --- Scott --- McCreadie --- Wilson

--------------- Fleming --------------------

---- Duffy ----- Stanley ------- Rundle

-------------------Jevons-----------------
-----------Mullin--------------------------

Bench: Walker, Bentley, Shuker, Hendrie, Spencer, Drummond, Haining

The likes of Wainwright & Hunter might not even make the squad! I'd hate to be Sammy right now, but look at the squad he has to choose from, incredible !

I love the fact that most so called loyal fans are sticking new players straight in their ideal new starting line ups, that must be great for very successful team players from last year, 5 new lads straight in, that is great for morale...NOTTTTT

Thats the whole point of making signings, making your team better, theres no point in signing people and leaving them on the bench just because they are new. How is that going to affect their morale?
You have to think about how players morale will be if we are losing constently with a team from last season...

With 7 or 8 unseen players it is going to take time to gel. However, if Sammy plays the new lads in their preferred positions I am sure they will be a force. There are such a lot of good options.

Neat replies

So rather than giving the lads that got us in the playoffs, chuck in the newbies, bollocks to the players we never released, and off we go

I think that sammys first game will have mostly existing last season players, the tools on here suggesting wholesale changes from day one are deluded
