Parade from Christie to the Globe

Parade from Christie to the Globe

Postby marky No.1 » Wed May 26, 2010 2:16 am

Reading some of the stuff emotions are running high over the demolition of Christie Park. When the gates open at the new ground I for one would find it fitting to walk from the old to the new to make sure the heartbeat lives on. Maybe Mr Morecambe could lead and carry a torch :D

Route planner.
Start Sainsbury's Lancaster Rd.
travel west to York Hotel
IMBIBE CONTINUOUSLY FOR 20 MINS.
Travel south west by side of rail tracks to Globe Arena.

EASY!

And I'll carry Vinny, as I promised when he was fretting about the move many moons ago.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

So Open Day is Sat.24th July. I anticipate the tape will be lifted at 10 a.m. from what's left of Christie Park. I can't decide if to  or :( . . .

Oh yes, the piggy-back ride - it looks like it's just over a mile

Yes that would be the route. No doubt an announcement will be made nearer the time by the Club as to what time the Globe gates will be opened. Hopefully it will fit in nicely with the 10 a.m. start :D

I would suggest nipping along Langridge Way, across the top of the estate. After a few pints in The York there is err... better tree cover going that route for the slacker bladdered among us...

How is Yozzer by the way?

So how did that work out then?

Unless Mick has something up his sleeve I don't think he will be open at 10.12 a.m. Maybe a visit on the way back would be more appropriate

when we do have our first saturday match, may I suggest that we pay homage to all of Morecambe FC's former homes. start at the cricket club on Woodhill Lane, then go past Christie Park and then off to the Globe Arena. I'm sure there are plenty of hostelries at the start, at the finish and in between.
