The Globe Arena Season 2014/2015

Postby Christies Child » Wed Jul 21, 2010 8:16 pm

Looking towards the future, i expect The Globe Arena to still be mainly a 3 sided ground BUT with the current open side fully developed into an Office and extended Community block.

The Home stand will be extended to a capacity of circa 4500 whilst the away end will remain as it is. Each corner will be filled in and additional seating areas will be created. The gound capacity will be circa 10,000 ...ample for our life in League 1.

How do I know this?

If we were in League 1, why would we not utilise the potential for a 4th proper stand? There's room behind it now, ready for building the 4th side as and when necessary.

Why develop that side when it will be bringing in revenues to guarantee a weekly revenue stream?

There are other areas of the new stadium that will be extended without having a detrimental effect on the commercial aspect.

Also a Stadium of 10,000 will be more than adequate for our needs when we are in League 1.

As for the concern about the open sided lack of capacity, the Car Wash was hardly an area 'packed' week in, week out. I reckon that it's average was no more than 200 throughout the season. That amount doesn't justify spending 6 figures on a stand!

Chesterfield's ground may have a capacity of 10,000 now, but it will be interesting to see how many there average will be during the coming seasons.

It will be decent...for the first few games, then all it will become is a good looking stadium with no atmosphere.

Sorry CC i Respect you but Morecambe instead of being a League1 team could easy become a Conference team because alot of teams in league2 are on the par of each other and we could easy hit bad form etc.

Because a (largely) 3 sided ground is frankly ridiculous. Having a stand on that side similar in height to the ends, but with seats, would vastly improve the overall look and feel of the ground IMO.

Perhaps the reason only 200 stand there is because they have to stand in the rain etc.
It depends how you look at it, few people choose it because its underdeveloped, not because
its a bad view.
Whilst it remains underdeveloped it never will bring in much revenue.

....but would not provide a much needed weekly commercial revenue stream.

This is one issue that will continue to divide healthy opposing opinions

There are other areas of the site, namely the parts of land next to the main road originally motted as retail/hotel points, that can be used as such to generate revenue. The Board will have hardly been jumping for joy when learning of the news to cut back on the current 4th side, and plans are obviously there for when it's ready for expansion.

Everybody going on about having 3 sides! just wait till you visit the "Lakeland Radio" stadium to watch Jimbos Army. It's one big car wash, complimented by al fresco slashing.

By 2014 the current sponsorship of the stadium will be due for renewal. After all the stick Globe have had etc. they possibly won't continue at $50K a year so I assumes CC your company is going to be the next sponsor and they have put you in charge of ground maintenance

We may have extended the stadium by then, who knows Globe might not do the extension?

CC would be no good as ground maintenance, i heard he is a good waterboy though?
