Are glamour friendlies really worth it? The chance to see great players doesn't compensate for a heavy defeat. Lancaster 1-8 Crewe comes to mind and Arsenal have just scored three first half goals at Barnet. Surely these defeats have a negative impact on the teams morale. So why not arrange friendlies against significantly lower opposition to boost morale? Glamour friendles good point how to you get the Lancaster fans 2 believe in the team in the next season where they lost 3-0 to fleet wood town and 8-1 to crewe.

And if teams go on pre season form then crewe are the team to beat next season.

I seem to remember the season that followed the Wolves hammering being a bit average? Certainly following the seasons taht preceeded it. I also remember Dean Howell being a world-class during that season, proof if ever it were needed not to look too much at the results and performances of pre-season.
