Lettering on Globe Arena

Whatever the reason, Posh, the buck has to stop somewhere. Even if the delay was down to a sub-contractor, as the club's appointed build contractor, it is Globe's overall responsibility given they manage the site. If it is the fault of the club, then I would imagine Globe would push hard for this to be made public so as to prevent their reputation being tarnished. Whatever the cause, this isn't a good day for either the club or Globe which in itself is rather sad.

Go for it! If you keep posting unsubstantiated rumour without any care for the implications of your remarks then please be assured that when the lawyers come calling then I hope you'll find a good lawyer of your own and be prepared to pay the consequences.

As stated in an earlier thread Phil I'm calling it the Westgate Stadium.

Could someone dig out that quote from the Globe guy who said the ground would definately be completed on time- our reputation depends on it!!LOL

What a joke.

After Posh's post about not knowing where the fault lies, causes me to re think this post...

It is still a cock up somewhere along the lines.

I said I would call it the Westgate Stadium before this was announced and will continue to do so, but...... who's to say that Globe haven't delivered what was requested? What they said they'd deliver?
I'm with Posh on this one.

Time will tell, no doubt.

All in all, it's not been a good day. :(

Just about. Spot on Dave. Did you have inside information?

My sister's boyfriend works on site and he said they were wks behind and that they only started to work overtime last week. :o . But it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out that the amount of work involved to get the job completed they would run out of time . All i can say is that whenever i have worked in consruction you work every daylight hour there is , 7 days a week to get the job done , we get a bonus every week and the company gets a bonus when completed if its before the deadline , because if it goes over they face penalty charges which will be in the contract.

Maybe we should write a letter to Jimmy Saville...

It's okay, don't panic, they've finished the signage at the new ground.

Hate to put a dampener on people's tittle-tattle but I suspect the Globe Arena lettering may be being prepared for some back-lighting to be installed, rather than merely being 'painted white' but I'll take a look tonight.

At least one of the other stands is being sponsored, as is the main function room, but I reckon the naming of the main stand in Peter's honour is entirely appropriate.

I think Shrimper is right re. the back lighting- that was definitely in the plans which were posted on here some time ago from the council website.

I think the front of the stadium looks fantastic.

I think it looks very good, and I do remember seeing something about back lighting on the planning application. happy that Mr McGuigan is being honoured, it is the very least he deserves, not only has he been the man that has been very much behind our success, but he also has a record of making british brands truly great again, from Umbro now to Bench. I'd like to see it called the Sir Peter McGuigan Stand, but first things first.
