Andreas Arestidou on trial at morecambe

Andreas Arestidou on trial at morecambe

Postby forces shrimp » Sat Jul 10, 2010 12:58 pm

Young goal keeper with Greek parents has just been released by Shrewsbury who took the lad on from Blackburn Rovers. Born in Morecambe and was picked up by Rovers age 11. Spent a good few years there and played a fair few aswell. The lad could be a good understudy to barry. Found this info on http://www.footballforums.net whether it's true or not is another thing.

I played with Andreas a few times when I was 7 or 8, his grandad used to train him up on the college field opposite McDonalds.

Is this the guy who went to Lancaster Royal Grammar School? Apparently Blackburn thought this kid there was going to be a future England keeper, and gave the sports teachers an absolute bollocking when they found out he was playing rugbybecause they didn't want him risking injuring his hands.

He looked very capable when he got his chance last season and I was surprised to see him released. We have promoted another young keeper to the pro ranks from the youth team so I can only think that he was rated as the better prospect of the two.

Good luck to him, I hope he does well for you.

Greek parents? His mum's a northern lass, used to work behind the bar at the shrimp. Grandparents live across from McD.

Are you thinking of Mark Bunn by any chance?

Some discussion on the Fans Forum that the new Shrews manager may offer him a contract after all.

he did indeed play for Bare in a very good team where he was never been tested, which was the reason he was moved to a couple of teams where he was going to get some work. He started bringing down 17 & 15 nil drubbings to single figures. And we still have club links with Blackburn
