We've taken him on trial and I notice he played a few games for you?

Solid league 2 keeper, made a few good saves. Nowhere near our Rochey though :D

Agree I remember him last season looking like a young talented keeper and a option of a replacement if Barry Roche decided not too sign his new contract.

Thanks.

He sounds like a possibility. We only have one keeper on the books with any sort of experience backed up by a youngster only just promoted to the pro ranks. Smith sounds like the sort of keeper we need for competition and backup for the no.1 spot.

I liked him solid and comanded his area well if Roche had gone I would have liked him as his replacement.

Solid all rounder. Good shot stopper and read the ball well in the area. In his last game for us he let one go across the front of his six yard box which ended up as a goal but was unlucky with that one.

I'd have been more than happy to have him back as a back-up to Rochey but he looked good enough to get a start in most teams.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Well we only saw him 3 times, he did well and saved a penalty. Not much else he could have done better in that time, think he'll be a big bonus to whoever gets him. Wish we were spoilt enough to have him as back-up
Get over it ;)

Totally agree. Roche first choice, but this lad's quality.

I think he did really well for us when he came in as cover when Barry was injured, quality keeper in my opinion, looked very comfortable.

Yet another goalkeeper for the Shrews who has been on Morecambe's books! You're new No1 Chris Neal was on the bench for Morecambe at Wembley in or play off final when he signed in an emergency loan (one match only) deal from Preston

Thanks again folks, all sounds promising. :)

Chris Neal joined us in the summer of 2009 and started last season as first choice. He was very unlucky with a couple of injuries though. By the time he was fit to return we had firstly Steve Phillips on loan and playing very well and then following Neal's second injury David Button on loan and playing really well.

Hopefully Neal will get his chance again at the start of this season. He did nothing wrong last season, looks very capable and deserves another go.
