All the best Jim in your new role.

Interesting how he's going back to his proven methods of developing youth.

Why interesting? Unless it's a subtle dig at Sammy's methods of not appearing to develop youth (which got us into L2).

If interesting is what Harvey has always done then so be it.

I'm sorry I must be missing something, Jim Harvey signs an extension at the club he's been managing for a few months now, hardly a new role. good luck to him in conference north, I'm sure we may see him at the globe one day, if we can arrange a friendly with them that is.

Not sure why Jimmy Harvey gets such a hard time on here. Personally I think he was treated shodily when he was sacked. Yes SM may have got us to League two but it was JH who put the building blocks in place and I really liked the way he brought the young players on. Personally I think he is a Morecambe Legend!!

I'm glad that's two of us then. The disdain spouted by some on here really fails to acknowledge what he achieved here. If he'd been forced out of the game following the heart attack he'd no doubt have had a place of honour at the Aldershot game and those who are ungrateful would probably have been saying how wonderful he was? But then, perhaps not.

I hope he does a really good job at Stalybridge, good luck to him.

So how did that work out then?

And me. If only for John Hardiker, Thommo, Perks, Danny, Jimbo, Twissy, Drummy, Garru Hunter, Brian Healey, Terry McFlynn, Wayne and the hundreds of other young players he persudaded to join the ranks at Morecambe FC and the youngesters good, bad or indifferent who are still playing football up and down the country. Plus of course Ipswich twice and much more that other clubs in our position then had never achieved.

And I.

My son is called James, they both know why. ;)

I wanted to call him James Christie Birch.

That got vetoed, I knew I shouldn't have given his mum a vote ;)

He would probably have the nickname Digger, instead of Jimbo ;) ;)

While handing out plaudits how about a word of praise for Bryan Griffiths.

It was essentially his team that Jim Harvey took over.

And me.

June 7th 1994 was an unbelievable day. Leighton James got sacked, James Harvey was appointed manager the same day.

My son, Matthew, was born the same day (he is 16 this coming Monday). His middle name ? James.

What Jim did for our club will never ever be forgotten.
