Whereas I don't for one very simple reason. If we try and 'stand still' in terms of the squad we have we'll very quickly find ourselves falling behind a few of the, shall we say, more established League clubs. I'm thinking of the likes of Bradford, Port Vale, Northmapton, Crewe, etc. I know there are still some fans out there who still think it's just fantastic to be in the same league as all these but I don't share that view. I'd like us to do our level best to continue to be better than them (within reason). Personally I believe that means replacing some of the older legs in the first team who, whilst they still have a massive part to play in our immediate future, are coming towards the end, either in terms of the football league or as players in general. As a point of interest, I said the same about Adams & Twiss this time last year and in the end, I was proved right
Edit - Actually, Keith, I would be more inclined to agree with you if our squad was full of young players who are ever improving a la Dagenham. However, that is sadly not the case...
Nice partial quote, in case you missed it all, I actually said...

With the couple of additions, we can do better. Development, not open heart surgery!
We don't need to replace more than half the first team, or approximately a third of the squad. Nor do I think we can afford to do so. So at no point did I say we should "stand still".
I can't believe that you don't think it is "fantastic" to be in the same league as Bradford, Port Vale et-al? Do you honestly believe that we have the same resources as these clubs? Bradford City
AVERAGED FIVE TIMES AS MANY FANS AS US! To put that into context, Crystal Palace finishing above Manchester Utd
(Palace averaged 1/5th of Manchester United's attendance) Fantastic? Too damn right! Sit back? No, that isn't what I said, even if you quoted me to look like it! Enjoy it! Love it!!! SMILE ABOUT IT!!!Rip the heart out of the team and throw money that we've not got in to chasing some kind of dream? No, that way madness lies... ask Darlington fans.
