Will there be anything in the new store to remind people of what there was before? A white spot on the floor where the centre spot used to be maybe?

I was hoping there might be a plaque on the floor probably near the deli that said this is the penalty spot where Arnold Timmins scored the penalty to beat Burnley in the Lancashire Senior Cup.

No doubt there will be plenty of reminders in and around the supermarket. I am guessing at least a few picures of the old ground etc but maybe even the supermarket itself will be named 'The Christie Park Store, Morecambe'?

I'm pretty sure it will be called "Sainsburys" myself.

Whilst no doubt many fans will be disappointed, I'll be amazed if there is anything more than a passing reference to what was there before. They are, afterall, a business and a business that will only use it's own brand. To even suggest they'd call the store anything other than Sainsbury's is laughable!

I think it will depend entirely upon whether Sainsbury think it helps the business or not? If they think having a few photos means more Morecambe fans will shop there rather than Morrisons or ASDA then they'll stick a couple of prints up, it they think more 'normal people' will go there if they are sticking strictly to the brand, then they won't. I have been in a store that had some photos of a warehouse or old brewery or something 'heritage' but I can't recall anything of that type in the Lancaster store.

Would be nice though. As for the name... well, it needs a name of some sort so who knows?

They showed a lot of interest a few years ago in finding out more about Green Ayre loco shed and obtaining photographs to display, but I don't go in there often enough to remember to have a look! Maybe something in the cafe there? As for the name, Sainsbury's did have a website dedicated to the new store which referred to it as "our Christie Park store", but the website no longer exists. Hopefully, though, they will be sentimental enough to retain that reference in signage or some sort....

I wonder if they will have somewhere you can get your money. One for all of us. ARTELL-ing machine perhaps.

They'll sell lots of bottled water. DRENCH amongst others.

They'll be a music section. Good selection of DUFFY cds hopefully.

There's usually a cafe too, so you can have a drink while you're MULLIN over what to buy.

Surely there should be some sort of plaque on the wall in memory of people whose ashes were spread at Christie Park over the years ? (Of which I know at least two, but I'm sure there must be more)

I wonder whether those who's ashes were scattered on Crusty had known that in the not too distant future it would become a supermarket, they might have had second thoughts about their final resting place.
