Man City. Tuesday 3rd August

These are showcase fixtures, although probably against weaker squads, certainly in Man. City's case.

I am very pleased with this but also hope we can squeeze in a couple against "lower" opposition. Or maybe the thought is they are not good enough to play on our new grass!

could be some away trips to a couple of local non-league sides

Preston and Bolton will bring full strength squads Mark no reason for them not to as Burnley Huddersfield and Plymouth did last season

City i think will be a mixture though imho but we shall see!!

I'm sure the reserves will get a run out at the usual places

I don't think we'll have a full strength side out against you guys, we've got a tour of the US and Canada where the first team are most likely to be. Expect to see a few back-up players like Shittu, Riga and Danny Ward, but I wouldn't expect too many familiar names.

Don't mind too much if it means a Morecambe win!

Hope it is not a repeat of last season when I recall we lost a few pre-season games to higher league opposition and then started the season less than convincingly :(

Rather loose pre-season than at the start of the real season.

Pre-season games are for getting players match fit. Too much emphasis is attached to results by fans. Whenever we have a superb pre-season we always seem to follow with a poor season.

I wasn't emphasising that we lost those games last year, I am suggesting that it didn't do our confidence much good when you look at the start we made in the league i.e.drew v.Hereford, lost at PNE, lost at Burton, lost at Barnet, drew with Macclesfield, drew v.Chesterfield, drew v.Rochdale, drew v.Rotherham. First win wasn't till 19th Sept v.Notts County.

yeah i felt that contributed partly to a bad start last season, players are not learning anything by getting hammered off superior oppostion it just breaks confidence and i cant see how you can try new system & formations

i dont mind playing against a few big teams at home its good for revenue etc. but for every hard game we have id like at least one easy game following so new players can learn how to communicate and learn there new team mates game
