Postby thegentlegiant » Thu May 27, 2010 1:55 pm

well this year i have decided to stay in the uk, my first holiday/break is this coming bank holiday weekend.

i will be visiting my dad in Evesham, playing a bit of golf and also doing some site seeing in Bourton-on-the-Water for which I have pictures from when i was a kid so will be nice to go back and get some more pictures, i will also be going for the first time where my great great grandad was buried in Guiting Power, Cheltenham.

i will then be going camping in july unsure about the destination yet, but its about time i saw more of the uk :D

Looks as though it's the New Forest area for us. Although my wife has talked about Weymouth...not sure why as I believe it's a dump.

Was thinking about a week in Barcelona but funds are a bit short at the moment. However it all depends on the cost of a cottage in the New Forest and the amount of petrol needed to get there and out and about before any definate decision is taken.

As much as possible, I prefer to go away during the winter, so we'll see if we can get some sunshine next January/February. I was reading about visits to The Lebanon last week. Sounds like Beirut is becoming a place to visit once more (no, really!)

So how did that work out then?

Weymouth's nice. Nice harbour area with pubs and restaurants.

Abersoch camping for us and the Shrimplings next week, then the usual fortnight in Finger-in-yer-earole in summer.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

We are off to the beautifull coastline of Cornwall, at a holiday camp near Hayle. Bad timing as i have clashed with the 1st match at Globe . so our Lass has said she is leaving me down there and getting the Cornish Flyer home, as she will be taking her proud place as a Safety Steward infront of the new home end . I say thats Duty before all ;) I will be returning in the car the day after with the kids intime for the rest of the season SAMMY MACS BARMY ARMY LETS MAKE SOME NOISE ON WESTGATE :D :D

We stayed at a holiday park in Hayle about ten years or so ago, think it was called Beachside you had to climb over the sand dunes to get to the beach, Cyprus this year and i will also miss the first game by a matter of hours . Typical the only game i missed at home in our first season in the football league was the first one against Barnet due to a wedding, at least i could blame somebody else for that one

Came back from a two week stay At St Ives Bay at Hayle last weekend having missed the play offs and last ever game at CP    Bad timing on the wifes part. Managed to catch the game in a pub on the main street called the Carnubia i think good friendly pub with a decent set of locals. Having never been to Cornwall before i really enjoyed it and would recommend the St Ives Bay site to everyone

Me and Doris are flying to Istanbul in a couple of weeks time.
Arrive at lunchtime, and that night we're booked on the overnight sleeper 'Ankara Express' to Ankara.
Couple of nights in Ankara.
Then take the day-time bus to Urgup in Cappadocia for a week.
Staying in a cave hotel amongst fairy chimneys and underground cities. I'll feel like Bilbo Baggins :)
Then retrace our steps to Istanbul.
And finally 3 nights in that awesome city.

Lancaster and Morecambe for a week in September

I've just booked return flights to Tunis at the beginning of November.
Should be able to see a lot of the country in 3 weeks.

Happy travelling.
