Adam Rundle, previously of Rochdale. Pacey left winger apparently.

Its good to see Sammy has acquired one of his targets so early, looks as if we will have plenty of pace on the left hand side of the pitch.

Yep. Good player. Never quite worked out why he hasn't been first choice at a good club week in, week out. Always looked very tricky when I've seen him.

Very good first signing of the close-season as long as he's not got some underlying issue.

Well chuffed.

Wilson and Rundle sounds like a fantastic double act down the left hand side. Of course, the proof will be in the pudding but I'm very pleased with the first signing :)

Great signing.

I assume this means we have dropped any interest in Simon Hackney.

Without wishing to put a dampener on things I'm going to reserve judgement. Released by Carlisle, Rochdale and Chesterfield he's obviously not made it at those clubs for whatever reason. From what I understand he's got something but we're going to have to get it out of him on a regular basis.

Mind you remember our last Chesterfield releasee we signed!

By all accounts from fans of his former clubs he isn't "pacey" as described on the article and sounds more like Wainwright in terms of he will beat you with skill rather than pace.

they think he's 'pacey', I think they might be a bit disappointed

Rundle is one of my favourite players of recent years, really glad he has found a League 2 club and a 2 year deal and an improving one at that.

Good solid player for us, was on his way out of Dale 3 years ago before being given a chance by new manager Hilly and took it with both hands. Performed well in the rest of the season and then had a very good year in 2007/2008 when we got to Wembley.

After that however, his chances became less and less as two youngsters in our squad came through the ranks, Joe Thompson and Will Buckley. He was in 2008/2009 rotated with these two as a winger.

This season however, he seemed to go down the pecking order before being loaned to Rotherham then released to Chesterfield. He was 4th choice for us until Buckley was sold, but Hill prefered to bring in a succession of wingers on loan rather than go with Rundle.

As a player he is not a speed merchant who will beat a defender all ends up, more of a solid wide man who likes to cut inside. When he was playing with Le Fondre for us he would often cut inside for a one two before having a crack.

Wont set your world alight but wont let you down is my overall opinion. Fans of Rotherham/Chesterfield may have a different opinion from his brief spells with them however.

Became a daddy about a year or so ago so am pleased for him personally.

I think some Spireites would disagree but i thought Rundle was ok and would have given him a year. He could cross, but rarely beat his man. He's not a matchwinner but more of a steady sort.

I'm really rather happy with this. It's just made my sunny North East morning even better!

I'm not too fussed if he isn't the paciest of players. I just thought we really needed someone who can at least take on his man down the left and get a good ball in the box. We now have that and so I'm pleased. (I also presume this means we aren't after Pugh?)

So, good luck, Adam. Welcome to the 'Family'!!!

I just been speaking to someone who supports Mansfield where he used to be and he said the same that his record of clubs releasing him should tell you something and that he is one of these wingers that go missing in action, however IMO all league 2 wingers go missing in action even Thommo used to that's why they are in league 2.

Dale fan here.

Rundle was one of my favourite players at Dale and I was gutted when he got released by us in january, will be a good signing for you. Beats his man a lot and will get a few goals from the wing as well.

Glad he has found a club and good luck to yourselves and Adam next season.

Well personally I'd take goals over pace from midfield any day. Drummond is the only consistent contributor of goals from our midfield, the midfield only managed 7 more goals than the defence this season in the league. I've always thought we needed wingers that could score, look at how good tommo was for us and baker. duffys only contributed 5 goals this season which isn't good enough so hopefully rundle can bag 10 at least. Lets just see if we can sign Pugh now who I rate very highly
1 Notts County 46 65 93
2 Bournemouth 46 17 83
3 Rochdale 46 34 82
4 SHRIMPS 46 9 73
