Well done

Well done

Postby Dagenhamfan » Sun May 16, 2010 10:25 pm

I want to state first off that the thread title is not a sarcastic remark - but i think you, the supporters, did your club proud today. Even at 6-0 down, and realistically the end of your Wembley dream, you held your heads up high, and sang like tomorrow wont ever arrive.

Full respect to you, all of you.

If it happens we get to Wembley, and the reality is now that its very likely we will, i think any of you who might be bored and fancy something to do that day would be very welcome with us.

Hope that you all had a safe trip, and dont feel too disheartened, that ourselves, yourselves, and Aldershot are there fighting for this is a true testament in itself. And i'd have stated that even if we lost today.

Cheers guys.

ME!
Can't wait, oohh look at me I'll go and watch a team thats claim to fame is that its at the end of the DISTRICT LINE.

Sarcasm aside Dagenham fan, I really wish the very best for you, and if you knew me you'd realise that I'm not as big a tosser as I sound but please understand i am hurting right now, a deep pain.
I've been in love a few times, had load of different jobs, but through all my 51 years, I've only ever really supported 1 team.

I cant call you a tosser, as i dont know you.

My biggest gripe today is that in the rush and madness after the second goal, i twisted my ankle badly, my foot had gone a purple colour, and its swollen. Its my accelarator foot, and if im to be there Thursday i need it, and i REALLY want to go :(

For the record the end of the District Line is Upminster, not Dagenham :P

I do understand your pain, but like i say, pat on the back - your fans were a true credit today, aside from those turfed out. I really like your club a lot, i have massive respect for Morecambe - and i have done for years now and i wish you all the best. I was disappointed before today as i wished we both got a chance to get to Wembley together, but it wasn't to be.

Because of the conduct, the passion, and the way your fans never ever stop, and the memories we have shared in the past - both good and bad, i always keep an eye out for your results.

Whether we go up or not, i fully wish you another superb season next time round.

Depends which ones you were on about really.

I am still dreaming, we need to send christie park off with a bang and who knows what can happen, if they turned us over 6-0 why can't we do the same?

Fair play to you lot today. As bad as we were (and that is as bad as I have seen perhaps in 20 years of watching Morecambe) your boys were excellent and Im not sure anybody on here is ready to admit that yet! Very impressed by a number of your players, Benson, Green and Scott obviously.

Any fan without their rose tinted specs on could see that we were in trouble from the off and not just when the opening goal went in. Good luck at Wembley, you'll have nothing to worry about if you can reproduce some of what we saw today, somehow doubt you will face a similar standard of defensive inadequacy in the final however.

As for the second leg at CP,....whilst I agree a number of our boys are no longer good enough if we want to progress and we certainly aint going to Wembley, I do think that we need to give the squad a right to reply before we write off their careers in professional football. Lets not start adopting a short termist, Premier League attitude towards football where you are either brilliant or utter sh*te, Christ, reading this forum prior to today you would have believed we were riding the crest of a wave all the way to Wembley so lets get some perspective.

If nothing else you will see exactly who has true character and who we should be getting rid of because if we dont see a reaction after today then we should clear the entire squad out not just one or two here and there!

I'll shed some light on it. One, clearly not a regular Dagenham fan by the way he was dressed, decided to take it upon himself to continually give me the wanker sign after your second goal. I was on my way down the stairs, and I shouted at him. I shouted alot of things, "don't give me that you bell-end", "we like you lot you dick-head", and the stewards jumped on me. I was accused of "gesticulating", which was false. I was accused of being abusive to stewards, which was false. I know that I am responsible for my own actions, but that bloke, not the result, ruined my day. I'd have liked to have applauded your team off as well. You're a good bunch.

On the up side, a group of around 6-7 Dagenham fans, again not regulars, saw what happened, disagreed, and decided to leave and escort me to your club house. We had a good laugh in there, despite what was going on outside.

It later came to light that the stewards were from Gillingham, which explains why they enjoyed ejecting me so much. I spoke to the police as well, but got nowhere surprisingly.

I really do wish your boys the best of luck at Wembley, but when you go up, get yourself your own stewards, the kind that epitomise the friendliness of your supporters. Unfortunately I think that will be my last visit to Victoria Road.

oh, that's never been a prerequisite of calling Aspers a tosser! 8-) Did he ever tell you that time that Elvis called him a tosser after he sat on his hamburger? Mind you Elvis knew him so that doesn't really back my argument, but anyway, feel free to fire away!

I hear you about the stewarding situation. I think its hard to get good ones anywhere. We do have a few good ones, but as you say, when some are imported from elsewhere - well i think all they truly care about at the end of the day is the wage after they have done it.

Not sure what the beer can issue was all about either - did it come from your lot, or did it come from ours? Did you even see it, cause i know i didnt until i watched it back on Sky last night.

I'm sorry that you had to face that stupid plastic fan, if its a consolation we dont like them either. Where were they when 46 of us went down to Torquay on a Tuesday night huh? Could definitely do without people like that. Hopefully it wont be your last visit to Victoria Road, the welcoming fans do outweigh the complete arses that insist on turning up for the big games.

The can came from your lot, apparently thrown at the linesman when he didn't give the penalty. Hopefully they'll be identified and banned from all football, thus saving West Ham from one more d***!

See thats what i thought, but apparently the ref or linesman when discussing it gesticulated that your fans threw it.

Still, shows how easy it is to sneak objects into the ground - makes me wonder why they take your bottle lid off when you buy a coke, whats the point if thats the case?

Bloody idiot whoeverthrew it.

and it probably should have been a penalty.

Oh my Goodness am I ever going to get over this.

Didn't someone throw a dart at Joe Corrigan once, and didn't Gerry Irvine frog march him (the lad that threw the dart not Joe) out of the ground.

Can we appeal because Upminster is the end of the District Line and not Dagenham as those cheating foul throwing daggers fans would have us believe.
Can we get Doctor Who to just go back a few days.

Looking forward to a 7 -0 win on Thursday (Friday for me)

Tomorrow's newspaper headline...
Following a Beer Can Being Thrown at the Referee's Assistant, The FA Have Thrown Dagenham & Redbridge Out of the Play Offs, Morecambe Get a Bye To The Final

"We have to clamp down on this sort of thing" said an FA spokesperson, "and we've decided to make an example of Dagenham & Redbridge. Morecambe are a nice club with friendly fans, so Sunday's result will be expunged from the record books and Morecambe will go to Wembley. Blackpool's 4-0 win in the play offs a few years ago will still be the record for a first leg win"...

To be fair, that particular "assistant" may have done better having had a beer can on the back of the head. What is the point of them if they never seem to see what is happening in front of them? Most referees must brief them not to "assist" so why not go back to calling them linesmen and have done with it.

Yes, they were both penalties in the first half and not given, but no excuse for that sort of behabiour though. Unfortunately in a crowd that is over double the season average there are bound to be a smatterig of local idiots glory hunting and therefore not really caring about the club's good reputation.

The incident was reported to stewards by people around the guy apparently, but he'd scarpered before they could get there and haul him out. Hopefully he'll be identified and banned.

I think, looking at it replayed on the TV a few times, that both ref & linesman were unsighted by bodies in the box. The bounce was weird, and awkward which is why it hit him in the first place. Definite penalty and it could be the turning point after we beat you 6-0 on Thursday, then go through on penalties!
