Globe - more photos

Postby Mike W. » Thu Apr 22, 2010 12:13 pm

:!: :!: Just added more photos of the new place to the new ground web site.

http://www.globearena.co.uk :geek:

Top soil going onto the pitch (arriving at the rate of a wagon load every 15 minutes, yesterday afternoon !). Main Stand fitting out - air conditioning, first of the two lifts, lots of piping, block work all over the site etc. etc. etc..

Talking to both Mike and Chesh last night, there seems to be agreement that the mixture of top soil and sand will be around 9" in depth judging by the amount that the sprinklers are jutting out of the ground.

Well on schedule for the seeding to be 'a pigeon feast' some time next week.

I've got my water bottles at the ready......

I was lucky enough to get a full guided tour around the Globe Arena yesterday.

It is superb on a scale that surpasses all expectations and takes it to a whole different league in terms of what we are used to. The infrastructure of the Main Stand and the facilities behind the Main Stand almost certainly make it the place to be. Some fantastic planning.

The pitch is being taken care of by a specialist team that know exactly what they are doing. While I was there the trucks were pouring in and the top soil was being laid over the layers of gravel and drainage.

Plenty left to do? They are onto first fix of wiring and plumbing. With 10 weeks left, easily completed.

We will be celebrating our good fortune whichever league we are in.
