My 1st test was at 1530 in the afternoon.
Instructor failed to turn up for my final lesson at 1400.
Phoned his number.
A woman answers.
I explain the problem.
She said "Thank goodness you phoned. He died in his sleep overnight. We knew he had someone taking their test today because it was written in his diary in red, but we couldn't read his writing! But don't worry, I'm his daughter-in-law, and I'm a driving instructor too. I'll be with you in 20 minutes to give you a final lesson".
20 minutes later she turns up, and in the usual car.
For the next 45 minutes I couldn't do a thing right, even though I was only doing what the deceased had taught me.
Anyhow I was a bag of poo at the test, and flopped with colours.
The moral of this story is don't employ an 85 year old driving instructor. He might not last the distance.
