O/T Gamblers quest to quit gambling

My 1st test was at 1530 in the afternoon.
Instructor failed to turn up for my final lesson at 1400.
Phoned his number.
A woman answers.
I explain the problem.
She said "Thank goodness you phoned. He died in his sleep overnight. We knew he had someone taking their test today because it was written in his diary in red, but we couldn't read his writing! But don't worry, I'm his daughter-in-law, and I'm a driving instructor too. I'll be with you in 20 minutes to give you a final lesson".
20 minutes later she turns up, and in the usual car.
For the next 45 minutes I couldn't do a thing right, even though I was only doing what the deceased had taught me.
Anyhow I was a bag of poo at the test, and flopped with colours.

The moral of this story is don't employ an 85 year old driving instructor. He might not last the distance.

Brings to mind...

I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my granddad, not screaming in terror like his twenty passengers...

I failed my first one. I was a bag of nerves and 'kangaroo'd' away from the test centre. The assessor exaggerated how bad they were by almost hitting his head on the dash board, even though it was nothing like that bad! All I saw out of the corner of my eye was this twat bouncing repeatedly forward like John Cleese. I felt like just pulling over and getting out there and then, the **** was deliberately making me more nervous. I can't even remember what I failed for. It was about four years before I applied again.

My bike test was on Christmas Eve, in snow! Now THAT was fun... not! I didn't have time to be nervous, I was too busy staying upright :-) Passed first time :D

So, don't be too disappointed and put in for your test again straight away, most of us failed first time.
