Frightening! Mcilroy can't understand it!

Postby Ned » Sat Aug 16, 2008 6:24 pm

In his post matches comments Mcilroy said he could not understand why the team never got going. It is quite simple, he should read the message board were he will find what most football savy people know and what himself and Lillis should be aware of that the majority of the team individually and collectively are not good enough for league football and he is responsible. The back four have only one skill which is to kick it as far as they can and the fullbacks belong in the Blue Square. The midfield trio of Mclaughlin, Hunter and Carr have plenty of effort but no creativity and no pace. The strikers do not look like scoring but then again there is no service. This was supposed to be a season of onwards and upwards but already it appears the managers of clubs who finished well behind us like Bury, Accrington and Dagenham have surpassed Mcilroy in their summer dealings. It was also interesting to note that the super Notts Forest side (according to Sammy) who put us to the sword were in turn swept aside today which makes you wonder at the excuse.
Of course we need not worry as Mcilroy syas they will be working hard in training to put things right. How is he goung to suddenly provide players with an extra yard of pace and the creative skills of a Carl Baker? This manager has messed up big time and it will be no consolation to anyone if he eventually pays the ultimate price as by that time it may have cost us.

One game and it's all over.

Do me a favour.

Give them a chance for Keiths sake. It's a new team.

Happy Days.

The Glass Half Empty brigade return with "the end of the world is nigh" and other such funnies.

You couldn't make it up.

How these people survive in everyday life is beyond me. Every gas increase, petrol price rise and inflated water services bill must give them a death throw hard-on!!

Oh bringers of doom, soothayers of the apocalypse, ITS ONLY FOOTBALL!!!

Time gentleman please

Some of us have to see the glass as half empty because as soon as we see it as half full, we go to pick it up and the handle falls off! ;)

Mcilroy got it all wrong on saturday he prob knows this...We must remember the players have to gel together most of our players last season had played together for years...Lets look forward i still think we will finish in the top 10 as everyone is saying one game does not make a season....Lets get behind the lads through thick and thin our club is one of the best in the country we cheer on when we are losing and we dont critise our players when they have one bad game....Yeah some of the players in the team need to sit out for a few games and say to them selfs what can i do to improve my game....at the end of the day we are still building our team....I can safely say i love morecambe fc....I love the fans....I love the town....Now show them other clubs that we mean business....BRING IT

The one thing i've noticed throughout Sammy's tenure to date, is a reluctance (?) to change things early enough to make a difference. it happened numerous times last season when it was crying out for a change in the striking formation.

It happened again yesterday. 2-0 down and chasing the game. 2-1 and we're back in it. Surley the time to bring on some fresh legs and go for it with a different formation. O'Carrol was on the bench, so why not bring him on?

This has often occurred to me and yesterday was a prime example. Sammy was sat down in the latter part of the game, seemingly resigned to defeat. We have decent squad players, so why not keep them in the mix, keep the opposition guessing and keep competition for starting 11 and bench keen?

Truth is we didn't deserve anything from the game or any other if we play that way again, Sammy needs to either make his peace with the players he's frozen out and get them back in the side fast where their needed or get rid sharpish then we can all move forward, This uncertainty has manifested itself amongst the fans and must be doing the same in the dressing room.

Go away

'This' manager is the same one who got us promoted and to a very respectable position in our first League season, as well as masterminding Carling Cup wins away against teams two divisions above us and a place in the JPT 'semi-final'.

And your point is?

The manager knows only too well from his own experiences at previous clubs of quickly turning from hero to zero before departing. Most MFC fans are realistic in that they dont expect us to challenge for the top positions on a regular basis but alternatively we will not accept a season of struggle at the bottom which looks likely on the evidence of the product. It was the manager who stated his intentions to strengthen the team but looking at the new faces along with the limitations of some of those retained I am sorry but you have to question his judgement. In addition to the managers ridiculous excuses the worry is that there is not much he can do about it except hope that there are at least 2 other teams worse than us. Little wonder the natives are restless.

first two league results last season, draw at home and totally outclassed at wrexham. 1pt goals for 1, goals against 2

first two league results this season draw away and shite at home. 1pt scored goal for 2, goals against 5

i would say we've started the season pretty much as we started the last.

Which product? The good away performance against Wycombe or the poor one at home to Rotherham?

:? I thought most of us would accept a season of struggle as long as we dont go down. We were spoilt last season but even if the worst happened and we were relegated, Sammys job should never be in question
