I think some people may be working on a misconception. As I understand it the only people actually standing under the back of the terracing will be the people serving the drinks and food out to the people buying it from the serving hatches.

Sounds pretty much like what's on offer in the away end at Lincoln. Of course it'll be a shame not to have the luxury of indoor facilities but I suppose it's better to be prudent at this stage. Besides, wasn't it the intention to construct the stadium so that future extension would be easily possible, subject to demand? In that case then the stand would obviously be extended rearwards resulting in the facilities becoming covered.

I've heard that we are negotiating with a supplier to provide FOC red plastic macks with hoods that will have the new crest on the rear to those hardy folk who will gather on-mass on the Exposed Terrace. ;)

As for facilities, gents and ladies loos plus a refreshment bar. For those who want an elevated viewing position, you could try to 'bribe' the TV gantry crews.....especially when it pisses down as THEY HAVE A COVER..

Not really a laughing matter is it. The cost of the stadium has shot up from the original quote and the facilites on offer have gone down. Those who do not want to watch from the main stand have nothing of an improvement to look forward to. I understand the need for a move but for £12m you should be able to have all sides of the ground under cover and shelter from the wind and rain if you want a drink from the bar.

For those in the home end the facilities on offer will be worse than when we were non-league, when you could use JB's bar before the game and at half time.

I think we should all bear in mind that the £12 million pound cost is does not just include the cost of the stadium but the training pitch and other pitches being built as well. The ground works will have been expensive and the application fees to the various councils dont come cheap. The stadium part of the plan is being built to a tight budget and is designed for expansion. In 5 or 10 years time, if we are successful in the league, the stadium may look completely different to the present build.Think of it as a work in progress.I bet other clubs wish they were starting next season with no debt.Poor old Stockport may not exist next season.

I don't recall any member of the Board actually coming out in public and confirming a figure of £6 million. Until the final specification was agreed it would have been impossible to quote any figures.

I could be wrong but the £6million was first posted on SVs and seems to have been accepted by one and all as the cost.

Until the actual Arena opens for business I don't see how one can compare it with our days in non-league. I accept that JBs is no longer available on match days to certain sections of the ground but if that is the price we have had to pay for progress, then I'd go for progress each and every time.

In any case the move is first and foremost about securing the future of our football club by providing income 360 days a year.
It's about looking after the fans by making sure they still have a football club - hopefully still in the Football League - in 20 years' time.

The move is not about giving all fans in all parts of the ground luxury drinking facilities at half time.
The board would have liked to have done that - but costs were higher than they first estimated so they've concentrated on those parts of the ground that can bring income on non match days and had to trim some other things. Hopefully those can be reinstated in future if we progress well and income is good.

Those half-time undercover facilities are there if you want them so badly - but they're in the main stand. That bar will be available to everyone before and after the game - it just means no half-time under-cover drinking if you're not in the main stand.

Had it not been for this current board we would still be non league. Into the future if a few of them left (as things stand at CP) then we would pretty soon be non league again.
This move - and the income it will bring the club regularly - means that the club will go some way nearer to being able to stand on its own feet with or without rich backers.
That's why they are moving and that's why the board are concentrating on those parts of the ground that can help the club make money 360 days a year.

I'm happy the board are protecting the future of my club in such a sensible way.

also included in the £12 million cost would be the facilities for Westgate Wanderers at King Georges playing field.

we don't actualy know that you won't be able to have a pint or buy a pie thats not under cover. No-one from the club has said this so we should stick to what the plans say unless we are told otherwise by someone from the club or by Globe Construction.

Surley though the better the catering facilities in all parts of the grounds the more people will use them and the more money the club makes on beer and food in the long run.

Instead if the facilities are limited people just wont bother going for half time refreshment and surley that is lost revenue for the club.

When we were in the conference I always went to Jb's at half time (and it used to be packed) but now I don't bother going behind the North Stand due to the limited facilities and it's always freezing and I would guess I am not the only one. If the facilities are limited in the new home end I again just wont bother.
I don't really want to move to the main stand just so I can have a half time drink as I hate sitting down at games and is the extra cost really worth it just for 1 pint.

Will the away end have similar facilities to the home end as we also need to cash in on the thirsty away supporters which we can't do at CP.

The new home stand will accommodate 2234 standing spectators and will have bar and catering outlets in a large enclosed concourse to the rear of the stand.

The away stand will accommodate 1389 standing visitors and will have its own bar and catering outlet.

And finally, the open terrace opposite the main stand will accommodate 606 standing home fans with catering facilities available.

from the new stadium website
it sounds from this as though the main and the home stands WILL be enclosed wile out door facilties for the east and away stands so apart from the few people on the east terace who won't be undercover anyway you will have somewhere to have your pint undercover.

the key word here is enclosed and it's meaning, if you have a big fence round you are technically enclosed doesn't mean you have a roof, infact the use of the word to me suggests it wont be.

Doesn't really matter anyway to me, the move to the new ground is a huge positive step, I can live without a roof over my pint at half time

I'm sure 'enclosed' means 'with a wall round it' = no roof.

And, again, I think the board 'wanted' to have undercover bars all round but something had to give. Yes, p/t Indie, it may mean a few don't use the uncovered bar on match days but many will and the concentration, as I say, has been on facilities that are (potentially) used 360 days a year.

The globearena.co.uk website says there are 'its own' bar and catering facilities at the away end and the open side will have catering facilities 'available' (so I imagine a mobile unit).

I'm sure you are correct.

However there appears quite a bit of confusion about this.

Maybe the club could confirm exactly what is envisaged so that everybody knows what is what...

Also in the main stand where is this "enclosed bar" going to be can't see any other space for it other than uder the stand :?

I'm not too bothered about the pint at half time. I've done without it for 3 seasons now and I can wait till full time for my vice, why the smokers can't do the same I just do not understand!

My one and only concern is pre and post match facilities.

Back in the non-league days JB's bar was absolutely heaving after a game and a lot of us would stay in there way into the night. Before anyone accuses us of being alcoholics, don't bother, I quite often stay on the soft drinks all night! The point is that it was our club bar and we liked to socialise in there, once a week with the friends that we may only see at footie.

Since we stepped up into the league, there have been 4 issues that have, in my opinion caused JB's to die a death.

1) it's bloody freezing in there! the door is always open and it's just not comfortable to sit in there.
2) smokers at the always open door, means I have to walk through smoke wether I like it or not!
3) The price has risen year on year making it one of the most expensive pints in Morecambe!
4) We are made to feel like the staff want to get rid of us by as early as 6:30!

Many of the fans that used to frequent JB's have stopped going because of one or more of the above.

So, all I want is a comfortable and WARM, club bar (I don't expect Luxury! but I would expect more than a concrete walled and floored franchise bar like the ones we see at all league grounds) that charges a reasonable price compared to the rest of town and is accessable before and after a game no matter which stand you choose to support from.

If that's what we get then I'll be more than happy.

I think the bar, next to the main entrance, is a proper 'club bar' not one of the concourse hatches you're referring to.
