Think it's been an excellent 3rd season, one where we have become a more than capable football league team.
17 games to go and 27 more points will most certainly have us competing for a play off place.
With the amount of goals we score...... very achievable.

goals against are 44 but the early weeks of the season cost us dear.

On stats Phil Jevons goal was his 99th career goal so hopefully a milestone on Tuesday.

good season so far as to date apart from a couple of games we have not done too bad since we good promtion and even put 4 or 5 goals past some teams!

In general the quality of football has been good this season and much more entertaining, at times we have played some lovely flowing football.

For the first time in ages we have a couple of good strikers who worry the opposition, Jevons with his control and guile must be a real handful to contain and Mullin makes life very difficult for all defenders.

I would rather have a high tally of goals for and against than scrimp around for a 1 -0.

This season has been far more enjoyable than last.

A lot of people park in the streets around Christie Park and walk to the game so it could be deceiving, though you are probably right in that we will loose some but hopefully it will balance out.

at this stage in 08/09 after 15 home league games it was 29761

last season we only got 2044 for the accy game
this season we got 3478 due t the fact it was boxing day
last season our first and last game attendances were in the top 3 games all season only topped by the good friday bradford game

this season we have beaten that we had had three games with 3000+ attendances(County Bradford and Accy) and we have the historic last match to come as well as Crewe on good friday a traditionally good attendance day and Rotherham if theyre up there should bring a crowd on 10th April
so although youre right about the economic downturn were not doing too badly overall and the match posters campaign has helped too

Quite impressive in view of our form at the beginning of the season. An average home figure of 2182.

I don't think a mile is going to affect gates much!!1

I am quite sure that you'll find by the end of next season our average will have increased to around the 2500 mark or may be more for the 1st season at the Globe but after this it will settle down to around 2400/2500 as it happens everywhere due to more people enjoying the modern cleaner facilities with better seating and increased corporate facilities.
Prior to Burton moving + when still none league there attendance dropped from an average of 3100 to 1300 when they were relegated but when they moved into their new stadium their attendances went up to an average of 4351 in their first season (which was in the conference), then around 4100 before dropping to around 2700 but rising this season after being promoted to an average of 3076. It happens every time a club moves to a new ground because although all the regulars moan and groan because most people don't like change, you'll find overall most people want change and want modern facilities.

Agreed. There will be lots of reasons for people to attend the new stadium that just don’t really exist at CP.
The facilities will be nicer and there will be more extensive catering.
There are also plans to have a kids’ club, or crèche which, if it happens, will make a difference to a lot of people.
Mrs Shrimper enjoys going to watch Morecambe and would get a season ticket but for the fact that our two little ones aren’t really interested just yet and we can’t expect them to keep still for 90 minutes while we watch the game. So it usually ends up with her staying away and me going on my own.
But if the little ‘uns could go to a kids’ club for a couple of hours:
1 We’d happily pay a couple of quid each for them.
2 Mrs Shrimper would get a season ticket
3 We’d probably (not necessarily every week but quite often) get there early and have a meal and a couple of drinks at the ground (more money to the club). We occasionally eat out one lunchtime over the weekend anyway so this would be instead of giving money to Toby or Brewer’s Fayre. (The ‘carvery’ idea might get more people going as couples or families, rather than one going and the rest doing something else.)

Instead of having to drag the kids to football, they are now telling US “that’s where we’re going to kids’ club!” every time we pass the ground.

A lot of families are in similar positions – also there are dads who have split with partners and have the kids at weekends but don’t want to drag them to football. If the kids WANT to go to their own little ‘club’ it makes it easier.

There will be other reasons why it turns into a better experience and encourages more to go – this is just one example.

If we can keep most of the current squad together (the loanees in particular) I would anticipate 'next' season to be a fantastic experience compared to this season. To me that is something to savour because I am really enjoying our football this season.

Talking of savouring...the idea of a carvery would definitely get me and Mrs Lion in before the game. We occasionally bob along to the Toby before a game, and would certainly go to a carvery at the club before most games. Somebody once suggested hot roast beef/hot pork buns as well as the usual burgers and hot dogs...that has me slavverin too.
