If anyone would like to express their opinion on the new Morecambe crest, we've got a poll up at The Visitor website here http://www.thevisitor.co.uk/morecambe-n ... 6055987.jp

I think it needs to be seen in a context. When I first saw it, I didn't like it, but already, just looking at it on the computer mock up, it looks striking & bold...

Like others, it is beginning to grow on me. Looking at it on the mock-up and on the posted brochure show it in a realistic situation other than a basic background, and it does work well - one thing I reckon it will do well on is on things like Sky Sports News when they make it 3D for use with the match reports!

OK, so I'm back home now and had a little more time to study it* and I have to say it's growing on me. The white and gold are actually more than an adequate balance to the red shield and do significantly 'lift' the design from a red shirt. Also, I'll retract my statement about the font choice being 'lazy'... although I do still believe there were better options available (each to there own!).

So I'm halfway between the camps now... and no doubt will be wondering what the fuss was about come August.

I'm in the don't like camp. Maybe it will grow on me etc. I also agree with Lordy re. the font looking cheap / generic and after a night's sleep I think that is what bothers me the most. The font (to me) really makes it look 'cheap'.

I'm sure it will look better in context as Keith said but my initial reaction (and the folk I have shown it to) was not good.

I'm glad to see that a clear majority seem to like the design. Clearly the problem isn't with the design - the problem is me being a staid old fart!

I like it. It is simple, functional, its got a shrimp on it, and it is different to the signage at Baxters Frozen Foods.

I would have preferred we went back to the shrimp style we used on the white 80s kits though.

It's the group on the far right who worry me :?: :?: :?:

Can't be city fans as they don't have that many. Could be a group of Chester fans on a day out remembering how things used to be! Ouch!

Very many different fonts were considered, some bolder, some slightly more ornate. In the end that one stood out best and was crisper from different distances. (Frutiger/Humanist BTW).

Praps when it's on a shirt or summat else it will look alright. I was three sheets to the wind when I looked at it last night. My school has now closed for the rest of the week due to the continued winter storm over here so I had every excuse to be on the pop !

And hey... what do I know about owt ?

Thanks for the insight, Shrimper.
