o/t Blackburn Rovers fan 'critical' following a head injury

A Blackburn fan was allegedly hit on the head with a rubbish bin. He's been taken to hospital and is 'critical'. Another Blackburn fan has been arrested. "It's only a game" comes to mind. Hope he pulls through.

Blimey. You've got to worry about the mentality of some "supporters".

If they get that worked up about a game of football, you'd worry about how they reacted to something that was actually important.

Very sad turn of events. In a strange kind of way, I hope the guy who died was involved in a fight with the other bloke. Somehow that would make it better than for him to have been totally innocent and simply a 'random' occurrence.

I don't even know what to say.
Being a dad I can relate to his dad and what he's going through.

Absolutely tragic that this has happened but they can be at each others throats very easily the Blackburn lot. About 4 years ago they were playing away in the UEFA cup at Beyer Leverkusen when a mass brawl broke out amongst the Blackburn fans in their section. No one else involved just different factions of Rovers fans and it did become very viscious for several minutes!

It wasn't really reported back in England apart from the East Lancashire press. The matter was dealt with back here and 12 were identified and banned from all English matches for several years on the strength of the footage provided from the stadium.

What a tragic waste of a young life. The lad who has sadly died came from my home town and though i didnt know him personally friends who did have been saying the same as Burnley Shrimp mentioned and that what was maybe high jinx has had terrible consequences.
Having heard his mother being interviewed on radio i cannot imagine what the family must be going through right now.
Going to a game should be about pleasure, escapism and passion not wondering if a loved one will be returning home
