Great Fixtures Tonight to Entice Big Crowds

Postby marky No.1 » Tue Jan 26, 2010 12:01 pm

A cold Tuesday night in January and what have a lot of the travelling fans in L1 and L2 to look forward to?

Carlisle fans should have already set off as they have their little 700 mile round trip to Exeter :o

Gillingham have to navigate the M25 before a humongous 250+ mile haul up to Hartlepool. Probably would'nt get back till 3 a.m.

Stockport have an easy journey to Brighton

Tranmere travel to Yeovil

In L2 Aldershot are off to Accy and Darlo entertain Northampton

How happy am I that we have a northwest derby at Macclesfield :D

... and they wonder why gates are down

Aren't these re-arranged matches though?

Yes I do believe they are. On this occasion I was'nt having a go at the fixture computer, just demonstrating the Fans and Clubs travel distances tonight. It just shows you the real cost of the big freeze when you take the losses on Saturday revenues and the expense of overnight stays for playing staff etc.

Some Clubs, such as Northampton v Chesterfield at the weekend re-arranged a Saturday fixture while the FA Cup was taking place.

I think that clubs over charge on ticket prices expecially mid-week games where money is very tight.
That's why attendances have gone down in football league recently

Football League statistics actually show that attendances have gone up but mainly due to the somewhat larger well supported Clubs being lower down the division ladder than expected.

i.e. Leeds, Norwich, Charlton, Southampton, Newcastle, Leicester and Bradford!
