Poor crowds last night

Postby Blackpool Shrimp » Wed Jan 20, 2010 1:09 am

Hereford only 1300 bury only 2900 and worst of all accy only 1300 for 3rd round of fa cup appalling - i know they were playing gillingham and they won't have brought many but that's a very poor crowd....actually wondering if that could be the lowest ever crowd for the 3rd round of the fa cup

Man Utd vs Man City on the telly, and Gillingham hardly the most attractive of ties.

That's fine. Doubt many would have turned up to Christie for a match against Gillingham either. 3rd round of FA Cup doesn't (and shouldn;t IMO) guarantee a massive turnout.

And I don't care either. Why are you so hung up on whether it was the lowest 3rd Round crowd ever? Who is really bothered? :?

for goodness sake, fgh asked a perfectly reasonable question, if people neither know nor care, don't bother answering and don't bother reading this thread. It was hardly an off topic question about politics, TV's or computers. Nor was he asking about contacting a local handyman. It was a football related question enquiring as to whether a new record had been set in the FA Cup.

So how did that work out then?

I would take a slating from our local rivals at our poor FA cup 3rd round attendance then follow it up with 2 fingers at there direction a winners cheque and a game against a Premiership team. For me this seems like sour grapes! And who the hell are we to have a dig at other clubs attendances were hardly the biggest attended club in the league.

I'm interested. It shows the relative interest in the FA Cup as a tournament. It used to be said that a 'good cup run' built up the coffers, yet if you're only going to get 1,300 for a home 3rd FA Cup tie it is questionable whether Accy even break even on a crowd like that once other costs are factored. To think we managed to get just short of that attendance for a GLS Cup quarter-final, probably the most meaningless and tinpot of competitions ever created, against Carlisle Utd in the Conference.

Even worse, relatively speaking, was the 5,335 for Wigan v Hull in the 3rd Round.
