morecombe or morcambe ????

According to lancs evening post tonight - in a survey of over 5000 people 70 percent of people spelt our town wrong making it most mis spelt seaside resort in uk..... some of the people surveyed actually spelt brighton as britan and torquay as torkey so no real surprise

Very sad but I always have to correct people who get this wrong. People visiting at work are always making the mistake. Solicitors are the worst offenders but take more enjoyment in correcting them than most.

you would think people would get a name like Morecambe right because of Morcambe and Wise

I would expect Bournmouth gets speld wrong alot to.

I once saw it spelt Marcumbe - sounding like it was in Devon :)

Could you be referring to the spelling of our goalkeeper's surname??
