Was shown this the other day but don't know if people have seen it already. Quite funny if you don't take it seriously. Not sure if link works though.

Just booked 2 weeks at the Sunset View. :(

Seriously though it's a shame the way a lot of British sea side holiday destinations went down the pan with the advent of cheap foreign holidays. Growing up in Morecambe in the 70's was a great time for a teenager with plenty of part time work to make a bob or two and plenty of places to spend it.

Roller Skating on the end of the West End Pier with a few crafty halves of Ayingerbrau Lager. Bloody great, don't think they make it anymore.

Upstairs disco at the Broadway complete with luminous bike frames and another few crafty lagers, one eye on the door for the next police raid for underage drinkers.

Central Pier, Heysham Head, 2 fairgrounds, bumping the slotmachines to get a few coppers out, setting the alarm off and getting chased out. Wembley with the Shrimps. Happy, happy days.

The video will surely promote Morecambe in a very positive light. There is something for everybody in this fab seaside resort.
A very entertaining video and very funny.
Happy New Year to all the sensible people of Morecambe.

Why aren't us exiles rushing back?
Me and Doris did.
And it wasn't long before we rushed away again.
During our 18 months back in the town we regularly walked the prom.
Often Councillor Ron Sands was around, usually sat in a deckchair taking in the outward vista.
Not a bad way to justify claiming his bit from the Council Tax payer.
Is he still around?
Not that it matters.
There are many who should hang their head in shame.
That includes, in part, the residents who have stood-by and allowed the towns demise.
Is a revival likely?
The noughties may have offered a glimpse.
The worthless tenners could be the final nail.

At least the footie team is there to be proud of.
Not like my adopted Pompey.
Flip knows what's going on there.
Henry VIII saw the Mary Rose sink, and that once great club seems to entering a similar abyss.
Won't be long before Shrimps visit once Fortress Fratton.
Or will Scumampton v Morecambe come first?
As Greavsie say "It's a funny old game!", so tha' never knows.

Happy New Year from me and Doris ;)
