Stadium naming rights deal

Postby Heysham_Shrimp » Mon Dec 21, 2009 9:36 pm

according to this week's Visitor front page (just seen it in the Spar Garage at Oxcliffe Road) a deal will be announced later in the week. It will be for £250,000.

It would be intresting to know if the 250k will go on the playing budget or is it needed to pay for some of the building costs.

£50k a year is a good deal for someone as I am sure the price to be shirt sponsor was just short a while back.

hope it obviously goes paying for the new roof

like the carwash stand now, i think a lot more people would like to watch a game of football from that side of a pitch, plus complemented with hot drinks & food being available

So the Visitor is out a day early this week?

If so i'll have to pick up my copy tomorrow.

re:The naming rights....IF true not a bad deal. On top of a shirt sponsor deal to follow, it will be a welcome boost to finances.

However a slight concern is that the cost of the Stadium MAY BE greater than the sale of CP which COULD negate the original suggestion that the club would enter the new Stadium debt free.

I thought that the just of the sale of Christie Park was £6million which would mean the new biuld is cosing double that.

One other financial consideration to factor in is grants. The development is geared to attract alternative funding to assist the project, (multi use sports pitches etc'). Football stadia development also attracts funding in the way of grants. This has been available since the Taylor report to develop safer stadiums.

The board aren't fools and over the years they have used such grants to their advantage at Christie Park. I for one can't see the current directors jeopardising future plans by taking on massive debts. I don't think the full financial details of the project have ever been published but they would make very interesting reading should they ever be made public.

I would also guess that with such an ambitious project other funding, (such as the stadium naming revenue), may well have to contribute to the build costs. However you sometimes have to speculate to accumulate and I think we have the right people running the show!

THE name of Morecambe FC's new ground will be announced later this week after the club signed what directors are calling an "unbelievable deal".

Unless I've missed it no announcement has been made, will it now be at Half time during the Boxing day game? Or will it be next week ?

I suspect that the Visitor was a bit premature in announcing the news.

It'll probably be difficult to miss when it's announced.

Once the deal is announced officially, I hope it's confirmed that it is for £250,000 per year, not £50,000. Otherwise we've been swindled!

I rather suspect Splodge was asking a question about grounds at our level ;)
