Completely covered in a nice thick blanket of snow, insulating it against the forecast frost of tonight.

Or words to that effect relayed to me by the groundstaff today. :geek:

The car park on the other hand is a complete ice rink.

Thank you for the offers of help boys. We have had a review of the situation this morning and should nature not take it's course by thawing whats on the pitch, we will get the message out via the OWS, shrimpsvoices, Radio Lancs and The Bay for volunteers to be at the ground Saturday morning.

PS. A very merry xmas and a happy and successful New Year to all SV's members.

Talking to someone in Carlisle - they have already put out a call on the local radio to get fans down to the ground to clear terracing, roads outside the ground etc. even if the pitch is cleared it's the other areas that now go into the equation - ask Wigan!!!

in 1962 ahead of the weymouth fa cup game they used a council sweeper to get snow off the christie park pitch!!!!
im keeping fingers crossed it would be a real shame if we didnt get the game on

Someone needs to tell Sky Sports then because they just gave a list of pitch inspections for Boxing Day and games in doubt and we were not on it

Just removed a couple of posts.

Pitch inspection tomorrow.

Until then let's be optimistic and assume the match is on.

Dont want to be too upbeat, but the players trained on the pitch today and they said it was o.k. under foot apart from the 6 yd box at the umbro end as usual. The snow is acting as insulation.Help might be needed tomorrow to remove it.Heaters are being used at the umbro end, hopefully the match will go ahead.
