How bad is it in Morecambe?

Need to travel down to town from South Lakes to see my mum who is in a rehabilitation home.

About 5" in Storth and don't want to set off if it's bad in town.

Thanks
Neil

Lovely view of the Langdales and Lakes. The view over the bay is priceless. The snow makes it all the more picturesque

Took the road to Kendal via Crooklands and drove on new snow which was fine. It's when it gets compacted that the problems arise.

The Highways people seem to have been caught out...AGAIN!

Off to Morecambe in about 30 minutes unless i get a call saying don't bother.

My Finnish Fiancee lands on Tuesday C.C . i will get her to come and give you some snow driving lessons if you like ;) . After she picked me up from airport last year i changed her name from Meru Nieminan to Meru Mikkola :o . Its quite an experience going at 80 mph in the snow , feeling for the brake pedal and your undies changing colour.

My cousin used to be a Pro Rally Driver for Team Vauxhall and once took me through Keelder Forest in the snow on a closed road test drive just before dawn.

Know what you mean about brown undies!

Even bloody worse when he offered me the wheel and tried to tell me what to do! Never been as scared in my life....but the adrenalin rush was incredible.

Not sure about being caught out CC.
Speaking to a friend of mine who runs his own indipendant gritter in the dales .
He has been out gritting some of the less accessible areas up in the hills. when returning back to the council depot this morning to fill up with salt he noticed all the gritters parked up . he couldnt believe his ears when told they were not allowed out because conditions were too dangerous .
Its official. The world has gone mad !!!!

Morecambe looked very pretty on North West Tonight.

6 weeks, and it'll be BKK-Rangoon-Mandalay-Phnom Penh.
What's a bit of bad weather when there's that to look forward to 8-)

Snow coming down again, another covering tonight. At this rate I'm having serious doubts that the game will take place. Pray for sunshine 8-) 8-) 8-)

Hmmm, no frost forecast though. The snow is just covering the pitch, and surely could be removed from the pitch early Saturday morning. Im sure they'll be lots of people wanting to help, me included.

It's not just the pitch that has to be taken into consideration. Unfortunately the car park and surrounding streets are like skating rinks and could be classed as being too dangerous.

It will take more than a day with temperatures above freezing to rectify.

As for removing snow from the pitch, it will need a lot of hands to do it.

I want the game to go ahead, but not at the expence of spectators safety or as a footballing spectacle.
