O/T Local garages for car servicing & repairs

Postby Crazeenick » Fri Dec 18, 2009 11:05 am

I'm fed up with paying rip-off prices for servicing/repairs on my Peugeot 307.

Can anyone recommend a decent, honest local independent garage that charges reasonable prices for servicing & repairs?

Ideally Westgate/White Lund area (I live in Torrisholme).

Any recommendations guys?

Thanks.

I use Wynterdyne garage which is at the back of the battery in Morecambe maybe to far for you though? used him for more years than I can remb and my dad used him before me. Top lad tells you how it is and prices are very reasonable.

Mark - 414294

Further near the Ind estates I think Whitegate Motors might be ok but not sure on their prices.

I've always used the same guy for the last 20 years

COLIN MILLS on whitelund, Tel 01524 61952.
FAIR, HONEST and always a top job plus he's always been an MFC season ticket holder.

Lookers on White Lund next to Ken Allens, dad and daughter outfilt. Always go there for MOT and repairs, very reasonable and not a rip off.

Whilst I understand your concerns re prices for your car which I presume you have had it done at a main dealer !! consider this : whilst your car is looked at at a main dealer franchise their overheads are a lot more than the others (and I'm not knocking the privateers) I work in a main dealership and the cost of specialist tooling, upgrades of diagnostic equipment training etc is astronomical, and beleive me some of the faults that we (main dealers) have to rectify are bloody terrible and sadly the privateers would not be able to find ! so while you say rip off prices that is not always the case !
Happy hunting, hope you find a suitable person to look after your car.

Andy
ps
I work for Citroen (sister to Puegeot) ! any help I can offer please ask but it would be too far for me to come and work on it !!!

You need to speak to Carl Bradley at Coastal Racing. Predominantly new MINI specialists but they will work on any car ;)

One of our "younger" techs did a head gasket on a Saxo and asked me what the valve clearances were..................... after 3 attempts I asked him what had he done ? he'd only set them to ................................imperial and not metric and he was brought up on metric !!!!!! oh the futures safe !!!!!
