For me, keeping hold of most of what we've got is more important! I can imagine the forthcoming window being an unwanted irritation 8-)

He has started the last 3 with Woolford out! Got alot of stick from their fans last year but they seem to be warming to him now.

As stated above all we need to do is consolidate what we have. Our squad is bloody huge and we have decent cover. Signing a pacey winger would be a slap in the face of Duffy. Maybe in the summer if Twissy and Wainy leave then a wide man would be required but for now dont risk upseting the balance which took quite a while to find.

Sign Jevons.
Tie Wilson down (how many years is he on?)

Then i would like to sign Panther and Craney but being realistic as they are not involved heavily during this run, i cannot see it happening till the end of the season.. if the budget allows and Sammy hasnt found other targets.

If it's not broke don't try and fix it! We're fine at the moment. I agree it would be nice to have Jevo as ours and the likes of Roche, Wilson and Haining on long contracts but our management and directors are totally switched on to whats required and we as fans can trust them to do the right thing in the best interests of the club.

Onwards and upwards!

to get back to the original question

Goalkeeper. Barry is brilliant. Scott is there on the bench as cover if Barry is injured/redcarded in a match. Goalkeepers can always be loaned as we found with Ben Smith who did well for us.

Defence. is fine at present and with Jimbo , Darren Moss , Danny Adams and Henry McStay we are covered and could probably loan one out to save wages.

Midfield. again we are well covered and plenty chomping at the bit to get in such as Ian Craney , Wayne Curtis , Neil Wainwright , Mark Duffy , Manny Panther etc. again one could probably go out on loan to save wages.

Up front Phil Jevons and Paul Mullin have developed a great partnership. IMHO a striker in January to give us another option off the bench would be the only incoming player.

But obviously it would be nice to see the ones who run out of contract in June sign up , Stanners , Barry Roche , Twissy , Drummy , Paul Mullin , Andy Parrish , Dave Artell etc etc

sign Phil jevons , Manny Panther and Ian Craney on permanent deals.

And get Laurence Wilson and Will Haining on new longer contracts !

I think part of the reason the last couple of starts to the season have been so poor is the number of new players that we have tried to gel. We have a good squad now so the fewer changes in the Summer the better.

I think that will depend on what league we are in. ;)

The only thing i'd like to see is the extending of existing contracts and that starts first and foremost with the management!

I'm not sure if we need/can afford both Panther & Crainey. Neither are first choice at the moment (I know Panther is injured but who would you drop for him??).

Also Fraser is due back next season (though sadly he may be released now).

We're well covered in the centre, though the wingers could be an area to strengthen

One lad I did very much like the look of in the brief spell we saw him was Sean Rigg who is on loan at Port Vale from Bristol Rovers.

Played a lot for them a couple of seasons ago, then they got promoted and he maybe found the step up a bit much (he's still only young and learning).

Dropped down and banged a few in for Forest Green and then, as I say, looked good coming off the bench at Vale Park against us.

Nippy and skilful, has got goals lower down and is on the transfer list.

Not sure if Port Vale have the cash to get him and I don't think moving to another area would be a problem - he'll just want to get settled with a club afetr a season or two of flitting about.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

IF the proposed transfer of the lad at City doesn't come off, wonder if we should be taking a look at him with a view to a permanent deal for next season?

Whatever happened to the loan player that was supposed to be coming to us at the start of the season from a Premiership club? According to those in the know, he was going to be the answer to all our wishes (at that time).

I still think we should be looking at getting a spedy winger. Can't think of anybody suitable though...... ;) ;) ;)

id rather us make room and sell/loan-out players before we bring anybody in for obvious reasons, the squad is big enough.
