Genuine Promotion Contenders

Genuine Promotion Contenders

Or at least that's what we've just been described as by the BBC on " The Football League Show" and a positive piece about the club too!!

7 wins on the spin and 5 clean sheets on the bounce too.

Is this as good as it gets or are we really contenders? I daren't say.

Genuine promotion contenders??

YES! Without a shadow of a doubt. There has been absolutely no fluke about our meteoric rise up the table and confidence seems to be surging through the team. We also have several players who on current form wouldn't look out of place at least a division higher.

The other pleasing thing is that we now have strength in depth. We have solid cover in almost all areas of the pitch and could field a half decent team from players who weren't in the starting 11 yesterday.

The major thing at our level is producing performances consistently. At the moment all the players are doing that and they all know that if they drop off the pace there is someone just itching to get into the starting line up.

At the moment it's great to be a Morecambe fan, I just hope more people from NW Lancs get the message!

For the first time in ages we have a team and a squad to really push-on. We had a lot of new players again this season but have now really started to gell and gain some confidence. Not one player had a bad game yesterday.

Our defence looks awsome; Wilson, Parrish and Haining are all keepers for me. Don't know how Bentley (and especially) Adams will get back in now. Moose has been a rock too in recent games and at the moment deserves his place in the back four.

Every midfielder wanted the ball yesterday and had the confidence to shoot on sight. When did that last happen?! All four of them can score goals on their day so lets keep it up!

Jevons has managed to creep into the top three League 2 scorers without ever taking a game by the scruff. He is a Michael Owen type character who will always put away half his chances if supplied well. Just want Mullin to weigh-in with a few more, so someother club doesn't come-in and steal the guy who is grabbing all the headlines.

Wayne is a great back-up for these two and Taylor should get a few more second half run-outs if we are cruising 5-0 again to some so-called top team! Oh and as for Duffy? I could go on......

We're looking great at the moment, that's for sure, but the crunch will be how we react to any injuries or setbacks.

We've been fortunate to be able to name an unchanged line-up for several matches now, and as someone posted on here recently, the real test of the side will be picking ourselves up, dusting ourselves off and winning after the next loss.

But long may this run continue, yesterday was simply wonderful.
