How bright is Wilson's future?

How bright is Wilson's future?

Postby ezz » Tue Dec 08, 2009 11:41 am

With all the talk about Baker doing brilliantly in league 1 for County I think our next player to move up a few leagues will be Wilson. He impressed against us last season and this season he has been incredible scoring good goals and being an integral part of the team week in week out, all from left back.
McGivern last year was a good player and I don't think there is much between them, even in terms of age. I think Wilson has a great future and could well be playing Championship football soon. Great buy from Sammy, I hope we keep him for another season but at this rate chances are we'll see some hefty offers this Summer.
Get over it ;)

I'd hate to see him go so quickly but if no-one comes in for him in January, never mind summer, then the scouts are not doing their jobs properly.

It'll take a massive bid, though.

He's pivotal to our success and is on a good contract - and it's a specialist position where good players aren't ten a penny.

And he's the best I've seen at our level by a good way.

THE stand out signing of the summer for me, even taking into account Jevons' goals, he's good going forward and goingback towards his own goal, puts some unplayable crosses into the box sometimes and unless Garry Hunter comes up with another thunderbolt he's already got goal of the season sewn up.

As shrimper says, I'd be astounded if he's not already being looked at, but would like to see him wear a Morecambe shirt for a few seasons yet. If anyone is that keen on him, maybe they could put a fee forward to secure first refusal if he develops the way he looks like he will. Then if he gets a big move, then well on him, so long as we get as much of his quality as possible beforehand. Our ambition (of which there is bucket loads) can be furthered by his and other players like him.

I agree he has been our best player so far. I'd be amazed if no one came in for Wilson in January, probably talking to Morecambe about him now.Think he could easily play in League 1 or even the Championship. What does anyone think?

I see you said we've signed Wilson for 2 years. Think we need to offer him a new contract then if we want to keep him. Ha. The longer he signs the more we'll get for him. SIMPLE!!!!!

The mans a genius! Unless your name was Sol you don't see many long contracts in our League. Things can go wrong just as quickly as you find a gem. If you have deadwood at this level the coffers soon dry up ;)

That seems to be a negative reply Marky. Wilson will probably go in january so why not get what we can?

two years contract is good i heard that Ipswich and Peterboro could be scouting at christie park on saturday looking at Wilson.
I think he could easy be at a League1 team like say a Southampton , Mk dons.

Sssshhh but sammy has a plan for tomorrow. He is aware of all these potential scouters in the area so over the last 3 weeks he has had Danny Adams on a crash diet, given him some hair implants, changed the name and number on the back of his shirt and is playing him left back tomorrow. But don't tell anyone!
