Port Vale-"Teams Like Morecambe"

Postby Keith » Sat Dec 05, 2009 6:32 pm

Team news ahead of the game reckons that Morecambe will be missing their skipper Bentley and midfielder Ian Craney, so that's good news for us.

McIlroy's season-long loans of Craney and Jevons from Huddersfield were absolute belting signings - possibly the best transfer deal in our division this season?

I hope that Jim Bentley is missing as he is a right big f***** and would win everything in the air tomorrow

They've won 5 on the bounce, scoring 13 and conceding 2.

http://www.sportpress.com/spo.go?sub...1=1467&id2=182

Hope the boo-boys remember this when we're only drawing with them at half time.

Think Morecome will give us a good game

Jevons is certainly the danger man with 12 goals in 20 games.

he [Jevons] is on fire, and not just run of the mill goals, he has scored some crackers

I just been chatting with a Morecambe supporting work colleague of mine. He was dead cagey about naming names but reckons the new half of the team have now gelled with the rest and they are playing very well as a unit. No particular superstars but a new team full of recent confidence. He's gutted that he's missing the match to go Xmas shopping in Edinburgh (promised the Missus). Lightweight

who's that then?

After a slow start Morecambe are doing well again this season. Considering their resources I think McIlroy has done a fantastic job there. He really is a fantastic manager at this level.

Morecambe had won 5 in a row before this so it was always gonna be tough

McCombe had a good game against a League One quality striker

would be nice to have Jevons and Mullins

Morecombe. Strong team and scored a great first goal.

They played the counter attack perfectly, and deserved to be more than two up at half time

I suspect that given what Mickey says we need in order to get out of this division, i think the team will after the summer resemble something like the Morecombe team in terms of height and strength.

i have harped on about Jevons for a long time and he led their line really well today, how i would love him in our team.

I dont think people are givjng enough credit to morecombe though. We were awful, but tactically they were spot on. They werent there to dominate. They played the counter attack and di a job, and won their 6th game in a row.

morecambe were no real great outfit..just very busy..we should be beating teams like them at home!!

We don't have the right to beat anyone!

Typical patronising nonsense from the fans of so called 'bigger clubs' and err... oh... Are we actually beginning to be seen as a peer rather than a non-league club on loan? Keep going like this and even the Football League show might have to give us some respect! :?

Suggest we all send e-mails tonight to the Football League Show along the lines of 'to all those clubs who think that they should be beating a team like Morecambe..nah,nah,nah, nah' or something less polite!

League2 any-one can beat anybody simple as.
Sammy Mac has done wonders in getting Crainey and Jevons in and with players like Manny still injured Morecambe have the legs at the moment to last the season. So if Morecambe can keep Jevons untill end of season at least they should make the play-offs.
I hate it when teams say we should beat the likes of Morecambe because last season two teams struggling were Rotherham and Bournemouth and they turned the club around i know they started with minus points.
Port Vale enjoy your mid-table season.Morecambe are on the way up.lol

You realise that I was being sarcastic? There was only one 'teams like Morecambe' type comment, the rest were all respectful and reasonable, including comments such as they should try and build a team like ours next season. This from fans of a club that have played Championship football. My mate who's a Port Vale fan reckons we are good for automatic promotion this season.

Not looking like it! One of the last games shown again despite the fastest goal of the season and the most in form in the country... Not bad coverage when they did eventually get to us.

Alan Morgan would walk in to this team...

...admittedly it would be a slow, uncoordinated walk but he'd get there eventually

I thought they gave us good coverage. Don't mind them highlighting top and bottom clubs first but then, as you say, they gave us good credit and spoke more about us than any other team in their League Two slot.
And the 'leaving the best until last' theme is familiar to me - Spurs are usually on right at the end of MoTD - they know they can keep their viewing figures going for the full programme with all the millions of Spurs fans that way!
;)
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!
