I think it's a shame we've let him go back. OK, he's injured at the moment but he offered some presence up front which we are lacking at the moment and I had been impressed with his work rate and distribution. If he had better service and wasn't playing a lone role he would have scored more.

I think it was his attitude behind the scenes that was the problem, not a lack of goals on this pitch.

Glad to be shot of him... sounds like a tosser of Elam proportions.

Shame - clearly a good player with an awful attitude.

This could be just the wake up call he needs. One of two things will happen now. One - this is a bit of a slap in the face and he sorts himself out and will do a good job for someone in L2 or Two - he sulks about it and spends the rest of his career playing non league football.

Personally think option 2 is favourite.

There isn't anything to suggest that he has been sent back to Posh because of a bad attitude.

IMO he's only gone back to because he doesn't featured in Sutton's plans come January (new manager, new ideas etc) and frees up some wages for a new face. If he wasn't carrying an injury he would have stayed at the club until his loan expired.

i said the same on here for us last season, given the right supply of service he could/should be 20+ goals a season man in L2

Surely it's not doing his development any favours being sent out on loan season after season. No matter what he believes, he isn't good enough for the Championship but I think get himself in a settled team on a longer contract he'll do well.

OK so he messed us about towards the end of his stay last season, but I'd prefer to remember him for the goals he got for us. Without them I hate to think where we might have ended up.

I hope he gets himself sorted with a decent club, at whatever level.

Credit where due....he didn't celebrate his goal for the Imps v us a few weeks ago as he could have done.

I for one wish the guy well.

Nothing to suggest his attitude was bad maybe they just though no point keeping him if he is not in the managers plans. He was good here in his time on the pitch and scored some good goals the highlight being in the Good Friday clash with bradford last season. Good luck to him hge will find another club. Maybe he will get a chance at Peterborough you never know with a new manager and he team not doing so well they might just give him a go.

in other world without Howes goals we would have finished the season with 13 points less than we did.

I got 12 points but its still not comparing like with like. What if in those games we had Phil Jevons and Twissy playing up front in front of say Rene and Diarmuid, would we have done better - no will ever know.

Also how would we have done without Drummy's 10 goals?

A very good striker but severely tarnished by a huge ego, a workshy attitude and a failure to be a team player. He'd never come back because the players didn't like him, never mind the management.

not necessarily so imho
i thinkyoud have to read back the reports and see where and when he got his goals

certainly of those winning games
shrewsbury he scored the only goal created by stew drummonds exquisite pass he could hardly miss
Darlington fair dos the only goal
bradford goal was the only thing he did of any quality for a league one player at Christie Park although his goal at Chesterfield was quality too

imho Ive seen far more from phil jevons than Rene Howe in terms of what the club are getting for their money. a good lad good sense of humour and a far better team player and can finish
Rene Howe was paid a lot of money to score goals and to score 10 all season was very poor and his attitude to the fans and players was dreadful
if you look at the moment where we are now end of november he only went on to score 6 more goals all season
the team played great football in the second half of the season he didnt aside form two pieces of skill at chesterfield and against bradford again imho
When we needed him to score more at the start of the season i think we got a poor return for the money spent and perhaps would have finished higher in the table

im sure many would dissagree i just wish we'd had phil jevons last season in our team instead fo him think we would havefinished even higher with more points

If you want an incredibly simplistic argument yes.
