O/T PLUG SOCKETS!!!

O/T PLUG SOCKETS!!!

Postby mrpotatohead » Mon Nov 23, 2009 8:56 pm

In my house, all the plug sockets are very low on the skirting boards making it difficult to plug moulded plugs in, an electrician has told me today that rather than move them, he can simply turn all the socket fascia upside down, saving me a small fortune in labour, he also said if the plugs are in the sockets upside down my meter will run backwards , putting me in credit with my electricity supplier :?: :?:

Help needed, is this all too good to be true :?: :?:

My Father in law is an electrcian. kind of true yes turn em upside down for ease of access but it dont switch the current so your meter still goes the correct way.

cheers hooti, a sensible answer as opposed to the one or two that took the mick out of me, i live in a 12th floor flat, if i iron my curtains whilst they are still hung, will the glass falter, plunging me to my doom?

why dont you just remove moulded plugs and replace with normal 3 pin plugs. loads cheaper than moving sockets.

That's true but the downside is that your fridge will get hot and your cooker will freeze up so remember to move all your frozen peas, bread, ice cream etc into the oven before you plug anything in.

Removing the moulded plugs invalidates any guarantee you may have 8-)

Any new socket installations have to be within certain height perameters. When trying to get a socket that is at the old "normal" height replaced with a shinier new model it is supposed to be out of the reach of children while being accessible by dwarfs :?

Our 1st Wembley centre forward will know about this one :o

P.S. on the subject of Elf and Safety I would suggest people don't try any of the above at home! 8-) 8-) 8-)
