Which of the above would you suggest as an ideal Christmas present for a couple of kids aged 5 and their parents? :? :? :?

If it is for the family, then Wii. No question.

Lots of family oriented games and activities.

For 5 year olds deff the Wii great fun for the family as said.

The Xbox & PS3 I would say are for more keen gamers and older kids (teenagers maybe). The PS3 & Xbox prob have better games, graphics etc but all of that wouldn't matter for what your looking at.

Cheers fellas....However just found out that there may be a connection issue with wii and that a special Scart lead is advisable for use with a wide screen Panasonic lcd Tv. Don't want to advise mother in law to buy wii without Scart if that what it takes to get a good picture etc!

Again...any comments?

Not sure there CC I think you can get a scart socket (it might even come with it) and you can also get the three coloured plugs which go into the tv (Red, white & yellow).

I am sure someone else will know a lot more.

The Wii is best for kids and those who aren't hardcore gamers. It does come with a composite cable (yellow for picture, red and white dens audio) and scart adaptor. And it is now available in black as well as white.

Big advantage for a PS3 is that it is also a Blue Ray DVD player, which the adults may like. As mentioned, the Wii has a composite connection, so shouldn't be a problem.

For a 'family' I would think that Wii wins hands down because of the interaction. The Wii Fit is very good and clever (balance board is extra). But Blue Ray DVD's on an HD TV are awesome.

So how did that work out then?

Wii have special offer at moment, includes £200 of vouchers for your lobotomy,

how about a football, some goals, boots, a social circle, confidence, good sportsmenship
and less heart attacks? ;)

For the family - Wii

Other than that, the Xbox 360 walks all over the PS3 in every department :D

Morning CC.
I got a wii last xmas for the kids, prior to that xbox etc.
The wii is much more family orientated and I assembled it and we were 10 pin bowling within 20 mins.
Everything colour coded don't need to get owt extra.
I would suggest soft grips for the consoles especially the tennis.
Be horrible to let the console/paddle thingy slip out of a sweaty hand and smash the tv screen.

Good luck.

P.S.
David Jones in the City have put their Christmas decorations up!!
Looks lovely,

50 inch. :?
And the relevence of that?
Just because you have a big telly doesn't mean you watch it all day.
It just means you can watch it from a greater distance, ie, near the kettle ;)
I still find time to do other things ;)

For the family I think it would have to be wii
For a games console to play decent games and online games with then it would be x-box 360
As for the ps3 from what people tell me you are as well just buying an x-box 360 and a bluray player because ps3 comes second in all aspect of 'gaming' and playstation have ditched the major selling point they had of playing ps and ps 2 games.
