Stadium update Wednesday 4 Nov

Postby Christies Child » Wed Nov 04, 2009 9:46 am

For all those worldwide exiles, the new main stand of the stadium is quickly taking shape. Passed the site on Tuesday and further sections were being put into place.
Still not sure if the pitch will be turfed or seeded.
Chesterfield's new pitch is being seeded and although they are far more advanced than us with their build, everybody appears confident that we will meet our target date of June for completion.

6-8 weeks seems a short period of time to get established but no doubt the company responsible will have advised the club accordingly.

stadium will be used for pre season games as well so the pitch would need to be down by early June if not before

I'm sure the groundstaff will really appreciate this seeding / turfing advice. Anybody know anything about mowing and line laying? :?

I don't think the groundstaff have much of a say.

I'm guessing that it's the front entrance part of the main stand which is currently being built?

It is indeed Crooky. The entrance section has the 2 lift shafts, people and service, they look like 4 pallets coming out of the ground, they will quickly work each wing section up, which should give us all a better feeling for the scale of the finished Main Stand.

Apologies to Mr Fagan if I have stolen his thunder with my reply, but it is all very exciting.

Thanks to the guys doing the regular photo updates. Superb for the exiles who can't just take a detour down Westgate every other day to see the progress.

The speed of the actual construction is amazing and I didn't realise we'll have lifts in the main stand!!

Aren't we going to be freekin posh

There has been talk sometime back about a static camera recording the build as it progresses.

Any more on this?

Chesterfield have got one and it's interesting to see how their stadium is taking shape on a daily basis. Link as my original post.

Chesterfield's Stadium update photo.
http://cfc.trendnetdirect.co.uk/cfc/ipcam.html

It shows how much has been achieved in around 8 weeks if you look at their pictures from the middle of September.

We'll soon see our new Stadium at a similar stage of its development.

Wish I still had my Mecanno set of old...... ;) ;) ;)

Childhood memories......
